Guys I need everyone to stop messing around and be serious. Does PK like Azkaban or not? I can't tolerate any more shenanigans.

Not the filmmakers faults but the kids are still pretty awful at acting on this one. Improves dramatically afterwards but just nature of their ages I'm thinking. I remember the whole hype leading up to Azkaban was the characters wearing normal clothes instead of their uniforms. I think the wardrobe did most of the acting. Anyway, since we’re getting nostalgic for the 2000’s, here’s an anecdote. My friends tried to drag me to the midnight premiere of Azkaban. I remember saying, “isn’t this — a kids movie?” I had no clue that people with pubic hair watched these movies willingly. I watched the first two with my family. They were holiday kids movies. It was shit families went to watch cause Lord of the Rings was too long for grandpa’s bladder. But now comes a summer Harry Potter movie from the director of Y Tu Mama Tambien and the Hot Topic crowd wants to watch it. What the fuck? Did I take crazy pills? Have I entered the Twilight Zone? These were questions I asked myself. Here we are, 20 years later, and I’m still confused.

I had no clue that people with pubic hair watched these movies willingly. That has been my view of the entire Harry Potter franchise since the day I first heard about it. I know I'm alone on this island but what can you do?

If it helps, I have been considering purging them from my collection.

Reading the first book is on my bucket list. Not my 2024 bucket list but the 'before I die' bucket list. Not sure when it's gonna happen though.

If it helps, I have been considering purging them from my collection. The Ian Blu-Ray lore deepens. Would you keep Philosopher's Stone as standalone?

No, but really, his criteria over what to keep vs. cut from his collection fascinates me. Because he HAS been known to cut loose some legitimately good movies.

I don't think I'd go that far. Batman Begins, A History of Violence, Munich, The New World, Brokeback Mountain, Hustle and Flow, Cache, Kingdom of Heaven, Capote, The Proposition, Jarhead, War of the Worlds, King Kong, Match Point, Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit - there was some good stuff. I haven't even mentioned the year's true masterpiece, The Devil's Rejects. Calling it a bad year might be hyperbole. There are always good movies every year. And the ones you listed (outside of Kingdom of Heaven and War of the Worlds) are all good. But go to any other year in the 2000s and it's not up to par. Hence how we ended up with Crash as our Best Picture winner.
