I only worked from home for 3 or 4 months, but it made me realize its not something I want to do. That separation between the two is important, and it felt like my home was being invaded. I'm still working from home and its working well for me to the point where I will be very disappointed when I have to go back. I get to have the TV on in the background all day, I get way more sleep from not having to commute, I don't need to small talk with anyone, I don't need to cook my lunches in a microwave, I don't need to dress up, overtime is generally more tolerable because I'm not stuck in a separate location to do it... it's awesome. Working from home be like...

Hmm. Tenet isn't gonna hit a streaming platform I have until after Dracula's thread comes up (presumably before Oscars).
Weather is gonna be crap tomorrow. It's either get destroyed and watch this, or watch the last critically acclaimed 2020 movie still free to me on my list(US vs Billie Holliday).

Question for anyone interested: for eligibility do we want to go with strict calendar year releases or do people want to use the Academy's "everything released in January and February also counts this year" system? I strongly prefer calendar year eligibility and have been using that in Golden Stakes but I do want to get some input from everyone else if they have strong opinions on the matter.

Calendar year, but is it US premiere at a festival that dictates eligibility in the year, or wider release beyond that?

Calendar year, but is it US premiere at a festival that dictates eligibility in the year, or wider release beyond that? Basically becomes eligible once it becomes available to the general public. First page of this year's Golden Stakes thread gives a pretty good idea of how I'm looking at it this year.

So... Portrait of a Lady on Fire is eligible? Had a run in ny/la in 2019, so no. Bro, it played at two theatres, grossing a grand total of $67,344. It expanded to 22 theatres on February 14, 2020 and then to 130 theatres on February 21 and then to 268 theatres on February 28. Its widest expansion was on March 6 (a week before the pandemic) where it played at 334 theatres. This wasn’t your typical “let’s play it in December for Oscar eligibility and then go wide in January” scenario. The movies widest release was in March, after the Oscars had already taken place. If you’re going by U.S. “general public” release, it’s a 2020 movie.

If Neon wanted it to count as a 2020 release for award season they were free to not try to four wall it in L.A. in an intentional effort to make it awards eligible in 2019. Go yell at them for their stupid release plan, not me.

What’s stopping the Golden Stake Awards from giving Best Picture to Portrait of a Lady on Fire? Nothing.

As you are well aware, the Grammys run from October to October instead of January to January, which they do because it can often take a while for music to catch on and become noteworthy. I think it's kind of a dumb standard that confuses people, but it's the rules they went with and if someone was stupid enough to release a song on the last day of the eligibility window in an attempt to win Grammys that would likely backfire on them the same way Neon's Portrait of a Lady on Fire plan did.

Hah, that's great. Yeah it's a forgot gem.
The dog food gag near the beginning is one of my favorite movie jokes ever.

Just bought four classic Doom games on the Switch store for 13 bucks total. I've only played Doom 3 and the reboot game, so this'll be fun.

Ben wheatley is signed on to direct the meg 2?
Sign me up again boys but damn the meg is just zero fun as a movie though. Wheatley could help make it watchable though.
