Thank god he's still alive.

PG Cooper IanTheCool docstopHypothetically speaking, let's say I managed to cross the Canadian border, like the wetback American I am, where would be the best place to live? I'm on the East, so I guess I would be entering Canada through Toronto. How would you rate Toronto on a scale of 1 thru 10? I guess Ottawa and French Canada are the next stop. I don't know if I'm ready to become a Frenchman. I like to shower and wear deodorant. Moving west there's Ontario and some other shit. Is it worth it? And on the other side of Canada there's Vancouver where I'll likely meet up with Doomsday and SnoBorderZero. I've heard Vancouver is boring as hell - but that's where the biz is. Should PG Cooper and I move to Vancouver? What ya'll think? Give me your top 10 Canadian cities.

Would be like asking a Bostonian how they feel about New York or a San Francisco person what they think about L.A. or asking me what I think of Wisconsin.

You heard Vancouver is boring? Its in the mountains and beside the pacific ocean. And doesn't get the ridiculous temperatures I do.
And I've never been to Toronto, but it sucks. Objectively.
Bu if you are serious about wanting to move here, what are you looking for in a city? What kind of size? What kind of culture? Climate?

I think you are either looking at Toronto or Vancouver. Coop is from the east so he can speak to Toronto better than I.
I have only been to Vancouver once, and have a couple of friends who live there. My impression is that its a fairly liberal city, quite diverse, lots of culture. If you like nature, it has lots of parks and ski hills around, its close to Vancouver Island, etc. Because its on the coast winter temperatures are quite mild. Apparently cost of living, real estate in particular, is ludicrous.

I spend very little time in Toronto but could probably see myself living there. I've been in Kingston since 2013 for school and I love it here. Good mix of the pleasures that came with a city without being overwhelming in size. Also the indie theater is lovely.

NeverendingJoin Canada! If looking for diversity and size, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver tick those boxes. If looking for not too cold, how cold is too cold for you? Vancouver would come out as the balmiest. Ottawa is the second coldest capital in the world besides Moscow. Toronto can get pretty cold a -10 to-20 is a typical winter in T.O. Toronto has TIFF as well which is a draw for some, Vancouver has big filming sector.

I've been in Kingston since 2013 You live in Jamaica?! So how does Canada work. You guys have... states... counties? How are you people set-up? We have a federal government that pretends to do the bigger picture issues and then provincial governments which do most of the work around healthcare, etc. Our provinces are your states, we also have some territories up north. Parliament and government rule is steeped in British traditions, example we have a Prime Minister. Biggest factor to come here is free healthcare! There are of course some elective type procedures and certain medications that are not 100% paid for but if you break your leg by accident and don't have health insurance as in the states, you don't end up with a huge debt because you had an accident.
