It's a good trailer for folks looking for a nostalgia fix. I don't expect it to hold much appeal to younger viewers who've never seen ST:TNG. I'm sure Riker and Troy are only in one episode, but that's for the best. I never liked Riker much, anyway. I thought the idea of having a full-time counselor aboard was a good idea, but not on the bridge.
The new younger characters surrounding Picard remind me of The First Doctor era of Doctor Who. An old man who is clearly in charge, delegating tasks to the younger members of the group. Seven of Nine looks to be filling Ian's role as the muscle of the group. The girl is in the role of Susan, The Doctor's granddaughter. Barbara's primary role was to scream and be abducted, but I'm sure Allison Pill can handle more than that.

I haven't kept up with Discovery at all, but I'm wondering if they're going to connect the two shows via time travel or the like at some point. It wouldn't suprise me, anyway.

Just watched it. I really liked it.
I don’t know if it’s because I really miss the TNG crew. Or if it’s actually really good Star Trek
Oh well time will tell.

It was my grandfather, and it hurts because he was a good man, probably one of the best I've ever known. He was showing signs of dementia lately though, so there is at least comfort in knowing it didn't get worse. Our family all agreed to meet in California for the wake next week. Just as rough, it came in the middle of my big move between two cities and I had to accelerate hard, but I'm dealing. |

It appears they've continued partially off the story line in the 2009 Star Trek Crossroads comic that was a lead-in to the Star Trek reboot movie that year. Taking place in the Alpha time line, which of course involves the Romulus home star going supernova, and the Tal Shiar experimenting with replicating Borg technology (which lead to Nero's ship in the 2009 movie). The only thing that it doesn't seem to line up with is that Data was more or less around after being successfully replicated in B4, which this show doesn't seem to follow. However there is another comic called Picard Crossroads, conveniently (or coincidentally?), that is a tie-in for the show. It's about Picard and his help in evacuation efforts of the Romulan people. Haven't read it yet, but I suppose that probably fills in some gaps better. If anyone's curious, you can at least read that older one here. Honestly it made the 2009 movie both more interesting and annoying at the same time, since it would have been intriguing information to actually have in the actual film itself: What ever happened to Lore? spolier quest ahead: Why did Data's painting called "Daughter" not feature Lal? I was figuring that was supposed to be her, just recast. Since it does mention taking her from his memories. Although you'd figure Picard would recognize her, I guess, but then again she wasn't around for very long... and he's old.  |

I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't stick with the comics storyline of B4's personality failing and being subsumed by Data's. I don't remember much of anything about Nemesis anymore, fortunately. I only saw it the one time at the theatre. What little I do remember is that there didn't seem to be any point to the discovery of B4 in the plot, other than as an out for the death of Data. It seems a shame for him to go out in such a crappy movie. Hopefully, the events of ST: Picard will culminate in being able to restore Data using B4's body.
