Pretty much. I don't really have TV anymore, so Pluto has always worked fine for me when I'm bored and just want whatever's on.

I just finished watching Flight to Mars (1951) from Rifftrax. It was interesting to see Cameron Mitchel in a movie in which he does more than just sit at a desk, or appear in one scene. Unfortunately, that was the only interesting thing about the movie. It would have been completely unbearable without the jokes. The entire script was built around the sets and costumes leftover from Rocketship X-M (1950) and Destination Moon (1950). I didn't mind the recycled bits, but that's no excuse for such a hopelessly generic story. Hardly anything actually happens. What little that does happen doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. The Martians lack space travel technology, and want to steal the Earth ship so that it can be duplicated in order to conquer Earth. There's never any indication that the Martians have superior weaponry, however there is plenty of indications that they lack the resources to have any chance of conquering Earth. Even the Martian President's personal guards don't carry weapons of any kind. There don't seem to be very many of them, either.

That robot is pure nightmare fuel. The ineptitude of it's design is baffling. It appears to have been designed by a small child. It's personality makes Jar Jar Binks seem eloquent and charming. What's even more insane is that this came out in 1994. Everything about that movie just screams "early 80's". Joey Pants must have been seriously desperate to take such an obviously awful role. edit- According to the credits, the robot was designed by Jack Shaoul, the writer/producer of the movie, rather than a practical FX professional. That explains a lot.

IT'S BACK! MST3K, Rifftrax, and Beyond makes it's triumphant comeback with those damned dirty apes who also made a triumphant comeback! It's a Rifftrax review of Rise of the Planet of the Apes! We also have a BONUS SHORT that would have been more relevant when I originally typed it last October. Oh well, it's Farm Family in Autumn!

(Imagine this self plug in a high pitched, helium voice) The latest MST3K review at MST3K, Rifftrax, and Beyond is craaaaaaaaaaazy! Get down, way down, below the surface level down with our bitchin' write-up of Alien from L.A.! FAR OUT! And we also conclude another box set of MST episodes with this episode, which means time for a retrospective! Check out our thoughts on Volume XXVI!

"This is not a documentary about how I made five feature indie films. That would take hours, and hours, and hours to do. As it is, this retrospective is about five hours long."
Hahahahaha! Never change, Neil. Never change.

I hope Neil reveals which drugs he takes at various states of production. I'd guess peyote while writing, and cocaine while acting/directing.
What is it with Breen and non-functional equipment? He's got all those ancient CRT screens in the background that aren't even compatible with the equipment he uses, and broken flat screens as well. Even the trailer for the documentary uses his favorite sort of props to tell his story.

"THE DRIVE-IN WILL NEVER DIE!" we all exclaim as The Last Drive-In debuts another season on Shudder. MST3K, Rifftrax, and Beyond has reviewed it's debut movies, including the unbelievably fun killer robots in a shopping mall flick Chopping Mall! And on the second half of our double feature is one that isn't for the feint of heart, though Joe Bob fans will be able to brush off their shoulder with the greatest of ease. Can you handle the Blood Sucking Freaks? And don't forget to tune in every Friday night for another killer Joe Bob double feature! It's great for social distancing!

You beat me to it. Despite being a Season One episode, I've always been fond of Moon Zero Two. I suppose part of it is simply that, compared to most of what MST3K riffs on, it's not a particularly bad movie. I'm especially fond of the animated opening credits, which seem to have been based on a completely different script than what was ultimately filmed.

The Moon Zero Two streaming event just ended. Loads of people tuned in. Everyone involved was pleasant enough, but it was clear that not much prep work was done. The sound levels were all over the place. Joel didn't riff at all. Emily was on screen, but didn't actually say anything except during the breaks. Servo, Crow and GPC made very occasional comments during the movie. Lots of the movie wound up being edited out, too. Overall, it was kinda disappointing. If they try it again, I hope they learn from their mistakes.
