I just finished watching Flight to Mars (1951) from Rifftrax.  It was interesting to see Cameron Mitchel in a movie in which he does more than just sit at a desk, or appear in one scene.  Unfortunately, that was the only interesting thing about the movie.  It would have been completely unbearable without the jokes.  The entire script was built around the sets and costumes leftover from Rocketship X-M (1950) and Destination Moon (1950).  I didn't mind the recycled bits, but that's no excuse for such a hopelessly generic story.  Hardly anything actually happens.  What little that does happen doesn't make the slightest bit of sense.  The Martians lack space travel technology, and want to steal the Earth ship so that it can be duplicated in order to conquer Earth.  There's never any indication that the Martians have superior weaponry, however there is plenty of indications that they lack the resources to have any chance of conquering Earth.  Even the Martian President's personal guards don't carry weapons of any kind.  There don't seem to be very many of them, either.

I'm one of the dozen or so people who saw Freaked during they week it was in theaters.  Fun movie.

CHOPPING MALL!

"THE DRIVE-IN WILL NEVER DIE!" we all exclaim as The Last Drive-In debuts another season on Shudder. MST3K, Rifftrax, and Beyond has reviewed it's debut movies, including the unbelievably fun killer robots in a shopping mall flick Chopping Mall!

And on the second half of our double feature is one that isn't for the feint of heart, though Joe Bob fans will be able to brush off their shoulder with the greatest of ease. Can you handle the Blood Sucking Freaks?

And don't forget to tune in every Friday night for another killer Joe Bob double feature! It's great for social distancing!

Despite being a Season One episode, I've always been fond of Moon Zero Two.  I suppose part of it is simply that, compared to most of what MST3K riffs on, it's not a particularly bad movie.  I'm especially fond of the animated opening credits, which seem to have been based on a completely different script than what was ultimately filmed.
