Eh I have never sat down and compared my bluray of Avatar to a HD streamed version of it but for the HD flicks I have rented online or sporting events I have seen I have not noticed a huge difference. I am sure there is some loss but besides the super A/V nerds most people won't see a difference and once the US finally starts implementing fiber everywhere it will be an even smaller difference between streamed and physical.
But you are right, at the moment if you did a side by side of a bluray and a HD stream, you could find some difference. Once 4K takes a foot hold though you will see a bigger difference in quality unless the streaming providers and your ISP kick it up a notch.

Fox is pulling older Fantastic Four movies off of all digital platforms to remove competition for the new movie. This is what we will see more and more of now that we are going to these services where the content available is controlled by a 3rd party.

I don't think I'll ever have any desire to watch the other Fantastic Four movies.

This is no different than Disney putting their movies "in the vault" so they can resell it at a premium price a few years later. Ultimately, all these shenanigans just lead to increased piracy.

Hulu might FINALLY remove the ad's on the paid-service, but it'll cost subscribers more money: www.engadget.com/2015/07/17/wsj-hulu-ad-free-pricing/If they seriously charge more money to remove the ad's I'll cancel Hulu. Seriously. Hulu had the option to be a great rival to Netflix but they fucked it up.

Yeah, I'm hanging onto Hulu by a thread. They have a couple shows I watch and a large selection of Criterion titles. Otherwise it's junk.

Ok, I have a confession to make. I was wrong about Netflix I broke down and signed up for it to watch Daredevil, and I have been getting a lot more use out of it than I had expected There, I said it. Glad to get that off my chest Hulu is really great during the Season - but off season I'm barely even checking it

Hulu is really great during the Season You don't really need Hulu if you have a DVR. Hulu is great as a back-up or if you ignored a show that suddenly everyone's a fan of. But that ain't worth $15 - which they're planning to charge now if you want the ad's removed.

I don't have a DVR. I think I may stop my subscription and see if it's more useful again when the new season starts

AT&T and Direct TV have officially merged. deadline.com/2015/07/att-completes-directv-merger-saying-its-now-fundamentally-different-1201484935I'm reading on social media that employees are being screwed over. Since both companies are now one, each employee needs to be knowledgeable in everything AT&T and Direct TV related. For example, Direct TV just installs satellites and AT&T installs cable, internet and telephone. It's two completely different jobs. But now, each employee has to be able to do all those things. Those who can, will keep their jobs. Those who can't, will be fired. And the ones who will keep their jobs have VERY mixed feelings because their workload has just be increased WITHOUT a respectable raise. I read they're only getting a $0.50 raise which is bullshit to them and there's talks of a strike.

If they are expected to learn more and preform more duties than they need at least a couple dollars more.
It aggravates me when companies throw more of a work load on their employees and expect them to be happy with little or no more money.

I can't understand paying for ads, let alone paying more to remove them. I get my anime fix from Crunchy Roll now, which is worth the subscription, considering how much I watch. My TV shows come from Netflix or Amazon Prime. Hulu is a crappy business model.

My roommate pays for Netflix and so I feel kinda compelled to match by paying for Hulu. The second this agreement changes however I'm dumping Hulu, it's a piece of shit.

Is Hulu still a one time payment for a year?
I had a free trail of it a year or so ago, they seemed to have a few movies that Netflix didn't carry and vice versa. But I ended up staying with Netflix I liked their selection better, not to mention the monthly payments I rather have.
