I'm trying to sign up for Netflix at my new place and it keeps telling me my credit card expiration date isn't valid. Ideas?

deadline.com/2015/01/sling-tv-dish-network-turner-cord-cutting-1201339761/A Cord Cutters’ Dream? Dish Network Unveils Low Cost Streaming Service With News And SportsAttention potential cord-cutters: this could be huge. Dish Network says today that its soon-to-launch streaming service, called Sling Television, will cost just $20 a month — far less than the $35 analysts anticipated — and will include channels from Turner Broadcasting as well as ones from previously announced deals with Disney, Scripps Networks, and A+E. That means it will offer live news (from CNN) and sports (from ESPN and ESPN1), the two forms of must-have programming that keep many people tied to their $80+ a month cable and satellite subscriptions because they are not available on VOD services lead by Netflix. The basic Sling TV package, being unveiled at the CES confab in Las Vegas, will include Disney Channel, ABC Family, Food Network, HGTV, Travel Channel, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network, and Adult Swim plus web content from Maker Studios. (A+E will be added soon.) The company will offer add-on packs each costing $5 a month. It initially has a “Kids Extra” package with Disney Junior, Disney XD, Boomerang, Baby TV and Duck TV, as well as “News & Info Extra” with HLN, Cooking Channel, DIY and Bloomberg TV. A sports package is “coming soon” but won’t include regional sports networks. A pack of broadcast channels also is in the works, but could take time given the number of deals that would have to be made in each local market. I should look into this for sure They just added EPIX, which I'm sure is gonna piss off Netflix. EPIX was Netflix's replacement for Starz Play and is their main source for the latest blockbusters.

That's an unimpressive list. On the bright side, Netflix (in the US) has recently added Danger 5, so that's an afternoon of entertainment.

This is what FShuttari what scared of. CGI Inspector Gadget, courtesy of Netflix. Fuck that! Hand-drawn, damn it.

This is the worst thing I've seen all day: techcrunch.com/2015/02/25/netflix-expands-its-kids-lineup-with-five-new-shows-including-an-inspector-gadget-rebootNetflix this morning announced it’s preparing to expand its lineup of original and exclusive programs aimed at children with an order of five new kids’ shows, including remakes of well-loved classics like Inspector Gadget and Danger Mouse. While children today may not be familiar with these titles themselves, their Gen X and millennials parents likely are – and they’re Netflix’s paying subscribers. In the new 26-episode reboot of Inspector Gadget, the 80s kid cartoon which later became a feature film starting Matthew Broderick in the late 90s, the gadget-toting detective gets a modern-day makeover, with updated, high-tech gadgets. Meanwhile, Danger Mouse’s claim to fame is that it scored well-known British actor and comedian, Stephen Fry, to perform as Colonel K. Four of the five new kids’ shows are animated series, including also a show called Bottersnikes & Gumbles, based on books by the same name, and SUPER 4, a CGI series inspired by PLAYMOBIL toys. A live action series about a toy shop called Some Assembly Required rounds out the new lineup. Inspector Gadget will be the first of the new shows to debut on the service, arriving next month. SUPER 4 arrives in April, and Some Assembly Required comes this summer. The remaining shows will arrive in 2016.

I hope Disney has the balls to keep "Ducktales" as an animated cartoon. That show was and is a classic.

As opposed to live action? Ducks seem like they would be hard to train.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't get into the whole binge-watching thing anymore. I used to be a huge fan of just power-watching shows, just sitting down and finishing an entire season of something over the next day or two.
I remember literally the day after high school graduation I had my wisdom teeth pulled, and because I knew I would be out of commission for at least 2-3 days I decided I would try and get into the show everybody seemed to be talking about - LOST (this was just after Season 2 finished airing). I blind-bought Season 1 and literally watched the entire season in two days. And because I couldn't wait for the Season 2 DVD to come out, I downloaded that and watched the whole thing over the next day or two (I started downloading it halfway through watching Season 1). Four days and roughly 50 hour-long television episodes. A few months later I bought Season 1 of Dexter on a Saturday night, and was finished with it by the same time the following Sunday night.
Now I watch 3-4 episodes of something and I need to take a few days, or more, off from it. I really enjoyed the first 11 episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but then I randomly didn't watch the 12th and 13th episodes until two days ago (2 months after the first 11). Or worse, I can't bring myself to start a season of something. Case in point, I loved the first two seasons of House of Cards and I haven't started Season 3 yet. Instead, I'm sitting in front of my TV half-browsing the web, half-watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier. And to be honest, I probably won't watch Season 3 for months. Same goes for Game of Thrones. I really enjoyed the first four seasons, but with Season 5 about a month and change away I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll download it as it airs and then not watch it until October. Same goes for Daredevil; I'm really excited for it, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if I sit on it for a few weeks/months before getting to it.
Is it just me?

I'm not big on binge watching, but will from time to time. At the moment, I'm snowed in and have nothing else to do, so a Netflix binge seems to be in the cards.

I think watching 4 episodes in a row is considered binging... But that's just me.

The last show I binge-watched was Attack on Titan. Though I have had my evenings of X-Files and Star Trek: TOS marathons. But regardless, I don't really like binge-watching to be honest. I like to really savor each episode and season. Moving through them at a breakneck pace kind of ruins it for me.

I'll binge watch a show if it's REALLY good and I can't resist. Agents of SHIELD is clearly NOT one of those shows. Maybe that's your problem, John . You're binge watching the wrong stuff.

While I think that was intended to just be a potshot at SHIELD, I've also done the same thing somewhat recently with Arrow (twice) and struggled (twice), along with the second season of House of Cards (which I didn't get around to watching until literally about a month ago).

Yeah I'm trying to catch up, or at least finish Season 1. Then I can determine if the show isn't worth sticking with; I've heard it doesn't get really good until the 17th/18th episodes roughly, so I'm willing to at least finish the season on that principle.

Most of us don't binge anymore because it's been awhile since we ran into a Lost or Breaking Bad.

"Binge watching" for me is more like simply watching one show and (usually) nothing else until I'm done. That may only be two or three episodes a day, though. *shrugs*
Shows like LOST were an exception because each episode ended in a way that made you want to watch the next. It was brilliantly produced in that regard. I know I had that constant private conversation with myself repeatedly throughout: "Okay, okay. Just one more. Just one more."

That may only be two or three episodes a day. The number of episodes I watch depends on whether it's a one hour drama or a sitcom. If it's a one hour drama, which are technically 40 minutes, I watch 4 episodes a day. That's the equivalent of a long movie. But if it's a sitcom, which is only 20 minutes, I could watch 6 or 7 episodes in a day. I watched the 4th season of Arrested Development in a weekend. I watched 7 seasons of How I Met Your Mother in like 2 weeks.

When I'm watching a show on Netflix or something, I ALWAYS try to limit myself to 2, MAYBE 3 episodes per day. That's mainly because I want to enjoy the experience and make it last as long as possible. For example, it took me a few months to go through Alias and How I Met Your Mother on Netflix; for the latter, I started watching in November '13 and wrapped up in March '14, literally a week or two before the series finale aired. I still need to watch House of Cards, and I'll most likely do that gradually, as I also will with Daredevil when it debuts in April.
