I always felt the amateurs need a "mask," whereas expert actual "facechangers" can morph, like Jaqen did near the end of season 3.

I can't wait to read the books, but I refuse to do so until the show ends.
The more I read up about GRRM though, the more he waxes lyrical about Tolkien.
And now I feel like we're so lucky that a fan of Tolkien, such as George Martin, was actually capable of writing this Song of Ice and Fire, essentially as a modern version of LOTR.
I mean what are the chances of both of these geniuses even existing?
It just feels so unlikely and that makes it all the more special.
When I listen to GRRM talk about Tolkien I realise that...he's just like me! He's as obsessed and in awe as I am, and I love that about him.

Yeah, I think of Last Crusade first. So uh, why did Cersei have him killed? Definitely a loyalty thing, surely, apart from seemingly wanting to kill everyone of importance not on her side. She killed everyone on the small council, right? He was the only one not at the trial, though. Probably would have killed Olenna as well if she could have (and would have if Margaery hadn't sent her home). Didn't care for the way he was killed though. It was too weird. Maybe if we had seen him abusing children in the past or something, it would have made more sense and somewhat satisfying. Up until that point, all we learned was that the "little birds" were children who liked sweets and relayed information. Although I'm still not getting that either. I wouldn't figure kids would be very reliable in accurate information, let alone keep secrets very well for that matter. Especially considering they're apparently so easily swayed into becoming little, creepy murderers. |

I just finished watching the very first episode. Damn, they knew what the show was right out of the gate Its really one of the great TV pilots.
One thing they do so well is to establish the Starks as a family. If you think about it, that is the only episode where they are together as a family. But they do such a great job establishing the bonds between them and showing them as a unit, that it reverberates with us throughout six full seasons.
It also creates the impression of the vast, rich history without feeling the need to go into lengthy explanations.

Okay, finished rewatching the 2nd season. Its certainly one of the weakest, with Alfie Allen's "acting" (i.e. shouting) and tons of gratiutious nastiness (joffrey going crazy on prostitutes, Jaime killing cousin unnecessarily, etc.), and Dany's lame Qarth story. But there's still strong stuff too, mostly Tyrion as Hand.

What is Dead May Never Die - Greyjoys plan to attack north, Tyrion plays council, Arya captured
