Eh, any crusader type or regretful character introduced to those movies to say "MONEY BAD" automatically bring down the movie. I'm glad they went without it.

If the movie had actually been entertaining, then I'd be more okay with the stance it takes on Belfort and his cohorts. But it is entertaining... its one of the funniest movies of the last twenty five years and the filmmaking sings. |

But it is entertaining... its one of the funniest movies of the last twenty five years and the filmmaking sings. I can count on one hand the number of times I actually laughed out loud at it. The rest of the time, I just sat there with an impassive face. After a while, it just wore me out and I just got bored by it. |

Kangaroo: Ronin (1998) I just watched this on Amazon recently and enjoyed it as much as I remember. Robert DeNiro stars but it's not a Robert DeNiro movie. He's still Robert DeNiro but he plays against type as a burned out ex-CIA agent thrown in with a group of mercenaries who are trying to retrieve a mysterious case for the IRA. It's a pretty simple story that's filled with crosses and double crosses and replete with shootouts, car chases and loads of collateral damage. It also features 3 Bond villains of yore who each have pretty interesting characters. I can see how a movie like Ronin can be eclipsed by the Bond and Bourne franchises as it lacks the explosions and machine guns and replaces them with dialogue and side-eyes but it's an entertaining spy flick and worthy of being one of John Frankenheimer's last gigs. Wow, we came right back to the WoWS argument and just steamrolled right over this. |

I know most people despise Freddy Got Fingered but I also know there are those who consider it a comedy masterpiece. I've never seen it but it just looks off the rails.
