No I am not talking just movies I like. I say take the 6 Highest Grossing Box Office Films Of The Year For The Icon Of The Year Film Award. Just saying should be an award for the little man or common folk at the oscars. Im certain there are some people never heard of Spotlight or The Room.Im fine with best Overall Film Acting Wise Movie Of The Year. But Whats wrong with an award for the fun side of movies. Dude, the "little man" is Spotlight and Room, not Star Wars and Marvel movies that gross hundreds of millions of dollars.

Many of these little man movies i refer too are large wide release movies all people can see. You know very well that some films are not played in many theaters and so many of these films are not known to the large populas and also not all these small films are as good as the praise.

Your "point" makes me think of the funny Chris Rock sketch in Compton in front of the theater that they ran during the Oscars. The people he interviewed kept talking about how it's ridiculous the Oscars didn't nominate more black movies and actors, and yet they had no idea about the movies nominated. How can they say those movies weren't deserving of the nomination when they have no idea about them? Hell, one guy barely knew who Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are. This is exactly why we don't have awards catering to what Vader is talking about, because a lot of the general public is completely incapable of accurately judging these films. "Spotlight!? Bridge of Spies!? Are you just making these movies up?" Yeah, those are the types of opinions we want weighing in on the biggest award in the industry.
Yeah Vader you're right though, movies like Room and Spotlight don't get played in as many theaters as Marvel movies and Star Wars. That's because there's a vast difference in budget. So now those movies which are already at a disadvantage to the big blockbusters should be discredited because they weren't seen by the masses? And also, you're just like the people I'm talking about in the first paragraph. Have you even seen any of these movies? I highly doubt you have, and yet just like those people, you're spouting off about how changes should be made. Just like them, you clearly have no idea how any of this works. What small film wasn't as good as the praise? Again, you haven't seen them, so your "point" is completely irrelevant.

And like Jbond says, the highest grossing films already have their own inherent reward, they get money.

Room is a great movie and deserved its nominations. Bridge of Spies? Not really. Even Spotlight wasn't THAT good. The Oscars, sometimes, go for the other extreme. For every Godfather there's a King's Speech. Meanwhile, movies that appeal to both sides USUALLY go unnoticed.

He did a VERY similar video for the 2005 Oscars. Basically, Hollywood doesnt make movies that appeal to Black people. I mean, look at the shit they DO make for Black audiences: Tyler Perry and Kevin Hart.

How many did run out and watch 12 Years a Slave? Probably not that many. I agree that is an issue and Hollywood needs to devote attention to making movies that aren't Tyler Perry/Kevin Hart stereotypes, but again those movies are making money so the community obviously isn't in uproar over them. I guess I just don't really care about the color of skin of people in movies, I literally only care if the movie is good or not, but that's me. Would people suddenly have been interested in Spotlight because it had an all-black cast? I mean, if that's what's holding you back from seeing a film, then you're the problem, not Hollywood.

Would people suddenly have been interested in Spotlight because it had an all-black cast? They could do a Spotlight type movie for Black audiences. A great subject matter would be the discovery that the CIA sold crack to the ghetto in the 1980's to fund wars in Latin America.

I was probably the only person who went to see it.

Here you go Vader, these are the award shows you're looking for. There's another one where they slime people, you might enjoy that one too.

Really wish they hadn't cropped the aspect ratios on all those clips.

Top 5 favorite and top (bottom) 5 least favorite. Not best and not worst, favorite and least favorite. Go.
