You missed that somehow Visual Effects was the most surprising win of the night.

The best part for me is Morgan Freeman took a cookie from Chris Rock and walked off the stage... Like a boss.

I knew my guesses wouldn't be great. I thought Rock's monologue was a lot better than I'd imagined it would be. I thought it was pretty on point with making the right statement, without being too harsh.
His Comedy has greatly improved since his early days of stand up. I didn't find him all that funny back then, but now I enjoy his routines

Not quite sure I can take credit for much there, I did what most people probably did, and chose one at random

Last night's Oscars were the lowest rated in 8 years. Oscars boycotters are taking credit for the low ratings. It's possible. There was so much negativity leading up to the Oscars that I'm sure it made an impact. But let's also not ignore the other elephant in the room. Hollywood continues to use the Oscars to promote smaller movies. There's nothing wrong with that per say, but it's difficult for audiences to get invested in the ceremony when they don't care about the movies that are nominated. Star Wars: The Force Awakens should have had a greater presence. It wasn't a great movie but it was well-made and should have gotten WAY more nominations and even won an award or two. Inside Out should have been a Best Picture nominee. It was better than Spotlight. Let's be real. And it wouldn't have hurt to give more nominations to Creed and Straight Outta Compton and have avoided all this controversy. They gave Best Supporting Actor to Mark Rylance who is ridiculously overrated in Bridge of Spies. The entire cast of Compton was more entertaining and compelling to watch. So these are all things to think about for next year's awards.

I agree that Star Wars should've had a much bigger presence. It was the movie of the year, a true global event, and all they did for it was a ho-hum routine with the droids. They lost out there.

What else were they supposed to do? The movie got 5 nominations and lost Best Visual Effects to Ex Machina.

It was cool to shout out John Williams, and I liked a lot of the new format stuff with the trivia blurbs for the presenters and how they showed off movie clips (the screenplay ones were especially cool), but it wouldn't have been a bad thing to have done more Star Wars stuff at the show. Again, it was the movie of the year. If ratings are an issue, throw in more Star Wars.

The Oscars need an Award For Best Box Office Film Award Or some film that honors Big Box Office Film Of The Year. I know they have motion picture of the years but you know seldom does a big box office movie make the catagory. Mad Max Fury Road was never gonna win best film and everyone knew that.

Just realized a stat: Two of the directors of segments from The Twilight Zone: The Movie (Spielberg and Miller) directed Best Picture nominees this year. That film was of course most famous for the Death of Vic Morrow, whose daughter Jennifer Jason Leigh was a nominee.

Look up the Best Picture winners of the '90s and tell me if you still believe that. Lord of the Rings won in 2003, Gladiator in 2000. I'd say those are big movies.

Look up the Best Picture winners of the '90s. Or the 1930's. Gone with the Wind won 10 academy awards including best picture - AND they managed to give one to a Black person.

I think I mean there should be a peoples choice movie award and nominations at the oscars. It be a nice way to add a new award and add an award where people feel involved not just academy members. It could not hurt too have a Peoples Choice OScar for Best Film Of The Year.

They already have awards that people can vote for. Also it's a terrible idea.

No. There are already awards and other outlets for the general public to vote on what they feel is the best film. The Oscars, whether you believe it or not, are meant to be more prestigious and worthy than whatever film happens to be the most popular in a given year.

That's when movies like Twilight and Lone Ranger win. It depends on which audience the award show is targeting. The People's Choice Awards and the MTV Movie Awards began as very legit. The Sting, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Star Wars were among the early winners for the People's Choice Awards. Terminator 2, Pulp Fiction and Titanic were among the early winners for the MTV Movie Awards. It's when the began catering to middle America, and especially teenage girls, that you started seeing embarrassing winners like Twilight.

No I am not talking just movies I like. I say take the 6 Highest Grossing Box Office Films Of The Year For The Icon Of The Year Film Award. Just saying should be an award for the little man or common folk at the oscars. Im certain there are some people never heard of Spotlight or The Room.Im fine with best Overall Film Acting Wise Movie Of The Year. But Whats wrong with an award for the fun side of movies.

The MTV Awards are garbage now. Use too be fun but now they stink. Peoples Choice is pretty good but Oscars as old as it is could add least Best music and dancing film. Like Golden Globes added but that movie catagory has many top fun movies in that.
