Alejandro is the third director to win back to back Oscars. He joins John Ford and Joseph Mankiewicz.

All the surprises should be over. You were saying? Spotlight winning isn't a surprise. It was one of the top contenders.

No, I was following your previous awards analysis and went against my gut.
Regardless, I still would have had a terrible percentage.

At this point I'm thinking Spotlight will win Picture and maybe even director... Congrats I knew it at that point because there's a pundit named Tom O'Neil who had predicted some of the crazier upsets from earlier and he was predicting Spotlight to win in the end.

Let's tally up. Mad Max: Fury Road won 6 academy awards. Spotlight, the best picture winner, only won 2. Michael Keaton starred in back to back best picture winners. Alejandro G. Inarritu won back to back best director awards. El Chivo won his 3rd consecutive cinematography award. Back to back James Bond movies won best song - after the franchise was snubbed for 46 years. Ennio Morricone won best score after being snubbed for half a century. The Star Wars franchise hasn't won an Oscar since Return of the Jedi. Leo finally got his Oscar. What else am I missing, Dracula ?
