George Miller for Best Director, nice. No Tom Hardy for either The Revenent or Legend?

Spy AND Trainwreck? Lots of comedy gold this time around. I'm not saying either film is great, but have you even seen them? What would you have preferred they nominate? It hasn't exactly been a banner year for comedy.

On the television side of things, I'm quite impressed with the actresses being recognized in the television categories. Really good choices with Rachel Bloom, Gina Rodgriuez, Caitriona Balfe and Eva Green. Also really happy to see Outlander getting recognition. Then again, no Leftovers, Hannibal or The Americans, so it's not all great. The best drama category is pretty bad as well.

Yeah, they've gotten better. I still don't care what they do, Golden Globes mean absolutely nothing other than for execs and studio marketing departments to push out "Winner of a Golden Globe... We're saying this because we didn't win any Oscars!"

It hasn't exactly been a banner year for comedy. The Hateful Eight was supposed to be in the Comedy category, but they accidentally put it in Drama. By the time Quentin Tarantino noticed, it was too late to change it.

Really good nominations on the TV side for the most part, especially in the best actor category. Extremely happy to see Rectify getting recognized. Such a good show.

Other than the critics choice awards, Sicario kind of fell by the wayside. Still waiting for The Revenant, but Sicario would likely be in my top 5 movies of the year. Great movie

Great movie They chose to support Michael Shannon in 99 Homes instead of Benicio Del Toro. We'll see what the Oscars think. This is one of those years where the Oscars will have some radical differences than the other awards. Especially since people are only now seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That's the one thing the Oscars do better than everyone else. They wait for the year to actually end. I feel like everyone was too impatient this year. They couldn't wait for Star Wars? They couldn't wait for The Hateful Eight to fix all the 70mm issues?

Sicario is essentially the dumb action movie version of Traffic, it just doesn't feel like that because Denis Villeneuve dresses things up with some strong direction. Also, while Del Toro is cool and commanding in Sicario, his work in Traffic is more introspective and subtle.
