I think it's obvious that Mad Max: Fury Road is gonna get every single technical nomination. The Oscars can't be stupid enough to snub it. Oh wait... they can.

It will get three nominations: costumes, sound 1, and sound 2. Maybe a fourth for makeup. Don't get your hopes up for anything else.

TV Academy Still Not Loving CW At Emmy Noms

TV Academy continues to cut CW when it comes to glam category Emmy nominations. The Academy did not bestow the network’s Jane The Virgin, heralded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at its Golden Globe competition, and the recent recipient of a Peabody Award, with a nom for either best comedy series or best comedy series actress. It received one nom, for Outstanding Narrator.

Despite the TV Academy’s prediliction, CW graduated to the trophy show big leagues last December, when Jane The Virgin was nominated for Golden Globe Awards for best comedy, and star Gina Rodriguez was nommed for best comedy actress, marking the first Globes participation for CW since the network’s debut in ’06.

One month later, Rodriguez made history by winning The CW its first ever Golden Globe award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical. “This award is so much more than myself,” she said then of the series based on a Venezuelan telenovela of the same name, about a twenty-something virgin who becomes pregnant when she’s accidentally artificially inseminated at a medical center. The show, she said, “represents a culture that wants to see itself as heroes.”

This past April, the series also was showered with a Peabody Award, for “skillfully combining a half-dozen show premises within one sharp, funny and compassionate narrative.”

Virgin competed for Emmy nom consideration as a comedy series, having been among the one-hour series that successfully petitioned the TV Academy to compete in the comedy categories for best series and all other awards, including performer, writer, director, etc

CW has nabbed 9 Emmy noms since 2007, all in the so-called creative arts categories, starting with a bid for best sound editing for Smallville, which logged another of same in ’08 as did Supernatural. Over the years, Everybody Hates Chris nabbed a nom for best half-hour series cinematography, Nikita competed for best series sound editing (2011, 2013). By 2014, the network was competing for Outstanding Hairstyling for a Single-Camera Series (The Originals) and Outstanding Special and Visual Effects (The 100). CW programs have won just one tech Emmy, Smallville, for sound editing, in ’08.

It’s been a long road for CW when it comes to Emmy consideration. Back in summer of 2010, CW did its first ever Emmy campaign, via a splashy insert in Emmy magazine that raised some eyebrows, borrowing as it did from CW’s racy 2008 “OMFG” marketing campaign for Gossip Girl for its campaign slogan: “OMFG FYC.” That, reportedly after considering the slogan, “Beautiful people deserve Emmys too.”
