Great movie.
Can't believe George Lucas came out of retirement to make it.

The 70's were such simpler times.
I mean the 50's.
No, wait.
The 60's.
Early 60's?

For a while I thought Richard Dreyfus was gonna be the biggest star in this movie.

Pretty good movie.
I'm sure George Lucas wrote 0% of the dialogue and Francis Ford Coppola directed 100% of the movie.
May the 4th be with you.

Live Blogging Empire Strikes Back
AGAIN!
20 minutes into the movie...
A few things to point out in comparison to Last Jedi.
There’s no action scenes. While Star Wars began with a blast, Empire emphasized its focus on mood and characters from the getgo. You get the ice planet Hoth in which Luke Skywalker almost loses his life, not to the actions of the Empire, but to a fucking snow monster. Meanwhile, you get the banter between Han and Leia, establishing a growing romance in between the two movies. Right from the beginning, it sets up the type of movie you’re in for.
An argument can be made that Last Jedi is the same. You know what you’re getting right from the start. Rian Johnson definitely paid attention to that. The difference, of course, is tone. Empire didn’t mind being... slow.

The complaint that Last Jedi kills tension is valid. Empire handles the two plots, Luke/Yoda and Han/Leia, by adding pauses. Han/Leia hiding in the asteroid field gives the Luke/Yoda scenes time to breath. Rian Johnson wasn’t always taking notes, apparently.

For all the shit J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson get, their portrayal of Luke Skywalker isn’t too far off. The whole point of the Yoda scenes in Empire is to show that Luke lacks patience and is impulsive. In regards to Rey, and the criticism that she’s a Mary Sue, Yoda always stressed that you must be calm and in tune with the Force. That could explain a lot of her abilities without getting proper training.

“I love you.” “I know.” Bet he said the same thing to Emilia Clarke. Prediction for DraculaEmilia Clarke turns out to be the Jakku scum that spawned Rey.

All that great set-up, just to be disappointed later on. Let’s stop putting Jedi in the title of these movies.
