Overall...
Mediocre/slight above mediocre. I do like the story. There ARE good moments. But the acting is mostly awful, dialogue is mostly terrible and there's zero chemistry among the cast/characters.

The timeline is confusing. At the end of Sith, the Death Star was in an advance stage of completion, and yet, 20 years later they're finishing it. Even more confusing... they built another Death Star in between New Hope and Jedi. How they built that fast but the first one took 20 years?

I have no major issues with Rogue One. It's well made and well acted. The ending is badass. Michael Giacchino's music gets better once you accept it's not John Williams caliber. Only genuine flaw, which isn't really much of a flaw, is the undeniable fact that Rogue One was made solely to fix the plot hole in New Hope. It's a silly reason to spend $200-300 million but movies have been made for lesser reasons. And, yes, the script isn't that great. It's a straightforward plot with little character development but that doesn't bother me too much. The movie is engaging and makes up for the weak script.
