It's cool that they incorporated the octopus into the name It's a nice change of pace. They usually incorporate the 007 logo. But I have to ask: Are they gonna pretend that Quantum never happened? Even if Quantum resurfaces in this movie, having the title be Spectre makes their elimination anti-climactic. Ever since it came out for Gamecube back in the 00's, I've been in love with the title 'Everything or Nothing' and had hoped it would eventually be used as a real film title. Once it was used as that documentary title instead I assumed the idea was off the table, but I agree in that I was hoping for something a little more clever than just 'SPECTRE'. Even when I posted that it had been rumored I didn't think it would actually be true. Hopefully the theme song will save the title. I wasn't crazy about Skyfall either but the Adele song made it sound appealing. |

The early films had SMERSH and SPECTRE. The new films can have QUANTUM and SPECTRE. In fact, it would be nice if Bond stated that he thought he was squaring off against another QUANTUM goon but this person had secretly defected to SPECTRE. Tie it all together.

In fact, it would be nice if Bond stated that he thought he was squaring off against another QUANTUM goon but this person had secretly defected to SPECTRE. Tie it all together. SMERSH was never an actual villain in any of the Bond movies. Quantum, on the other hand, was the main baddie in the first two Craig movies. But since everyone on the Internet badmouthed "Quantum of Solace", it seems like the producers are distancing themselves. It's like how Sheriff JW Pepper and Jaws were recurring characters in the 1970's but vanished from existence in the 80's. Or how about Pierce Brosnan's CIA buddy and the fat Russian guy and M's Black assistant? Or what about John Cleese as "R"? This franchise has a history erasing and re-doing and what-not. And they get away with it because these movies are largely standalone. |

QUANTUM is just the onscreen representation of that in the new films. |

The real news is no Roger Deakins. The Interstellar cinematographer got the job instead. That's interesting, Deakins is the man and did an amazing job on "Skyfall" though whoever did "Interstellar" was no slouch either. I'm glad they're emphasizing the cinematography so much, I thought that was a huge reason "Skyfall" was as strong as it was. |

I'm just happy Monica Bellucci is finally in a Bond film. She's probably the bad guys girlfriend or something. I would have preferred her as the actual Bond girl instead of the chick who could be Daniel Craig's daughter. |

Hmmmm...
While I agree with some specifics (the shower scene was a little creepy)...I don't think it "turned back the clock". Nevermind the Dench had been M for the better part of 2 decades. And they replaced her Raph Feinnes. I'm ok with that. Also we have no idea how Moneypenny will be used. They needed a reason for her to become Moneypenny and I liked the added back story. So she didn't like the field. That's like berating women who genuinely want to be stay at home moms.
