I don't agree with any of the article, other than as Knerys said the shower sex scene being a bit out of place... but then again it's really not, this is James Bond after all. This might be a poor word choice after referencing Bond kind of raping a woman in the shower, but this series is fantasy. It's not real life, nor was it really ever meant to be seen as such until the last few films (to an extent).
How about they just make Bond 25 about Jane Bond and call it a day? Why wasn't there a man in the main cast of Bridesmaids? I realize that most action heroes are men and women tend to take a back seat, and I'm generally against that type of discrimination in film. I like Black Widow in the Marvel films and I'm excited to see Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman in the next few years. I also really liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer, many of the women characters on shows like 'Mad Men', 'Breaking Bad', and 'Game of Thrones'. All portray really strong female characters, and that's awesome.
But this is James Bond, a character with 50 years of history on the silver screen. I'm not looking for a progressive Bond, I'm looking for the best Bond. Casino Royale was apparently really liked by the author, I loved it and consider it to maybe be the best Bond film yet. The writer didn't like Skyfall, and I also consider that to be among the series best. I think the writer is a little too concerned with something being quote unquote "PC" rather than just a quality story. Why criticize the Craig films that have been largely pretty favorable to women? Does she want the series to return to the Roger Moore standards where women are just there for having sex with the dinosaur Rogersaurus and nothing else?
I'm all for equal rights and women's rights and all that fun stuff, but this is too far.

It's the "strong female" complex. Women in film must be strong, sassy and capable (read: no flaws) or they're being marginalized.

I'm just happy Monica Bellucci is finally in a Bond film. She's probably the bad guys girlfriend or something. I would have preferred her as the actual Bond girl instead of the chick who could be Daniel Craig's daughter. If she's dressed anything similar or even more revealing than "The Matrix Reloaded" I will be a happy man. She is the MILF to rule them all. |

If she's dressed anything similar or even more revealing than "The Matrix Reloaded" I will be a happy man. Even that's an understatement. The fact that she could have been a Bond girl in the Pierce Brosnan era speaks to her longevity. |

Didn't they in fact make Monnypenny a stronger character? Before she was just a secretary, now she's one with a military background.
And as for M, would it only be non-sexist if M was a woman for the rest of time? No. Now M's a man.

Sean Connery is not the most popular James Bond among women. He slapped Tanya around. He told Dinx to go away because of "man talk." He raped at least two or three women. He got at least 7 women killed.
But I would say Roger Moore smacking Maud Adams around is the most shocking. I can "forgive" Connery because it was the 1960's but Moore did that shit in 1974. And the year before he raped Jane Seymour's character in Live and Let Die.
