Each film has its own case? If I were to hazard a guess I'd say they'll be those cardboard things that fold. Like the before trilogy?

I paid $99 for a year which I think converts to 11 beaver pelts and 20 sacks of corn for you Canadians.

I only pay $89 a year (American) because I subscribed immediately but for IanTheCool you it would be about $100 a year or $11 a month (both prices are American). Other than the charter members who signed up from the beginning, I don't know of any deals.

Criterions are so expensive. I wish there was some way to get them cheaper in Canada.

I blind-bought Brian De Palma's Blow Out on Criterion; it should be arriving today. That'll mark my fourth Criterion Blu-Ray (after All That Jazz, Being John Malkovich and Election). Slowly but surely building them up.

Slowly but surely building them up. Bro, that's my joke. I can now say that I own two Criterion Blu Rays: Being John Malkovich and now All That Jazz (because of Fosse/Verdon). Criterions are so expensive. I wish there was some way to get them cheaper in Canada. I can’t remember where we landed when last asked this but do you guys have Barnes and Noble up there? Their Criterion 50% off sale should start in a couple weeks. We do not. The only brick and mortar stores I've seen hold Criterions are HMV (now out of business I believe) and Now and Then (which are quite expensive).

I haven’t heard any official confirmation but I would hope at the very least they’d run an online sale. I have a friend who’s a floor manager at a B&N, I’ll ask her and report back.

They usually do, but then we Canadians have to pay for shipping and converting to Canadian currency. The savings are pretty minimal when all is said and done.

PG Cooper, you should be flattered. I first got interested in Blow Out through your Letterboxd review earlier this year. The movie WAS on Amazon Prime Video around that same time but has since vanished. So, I decided to just get the Criterion -- all cause of you.

I mean, I'm buying a lot less movies lately, so I probably could. But 50 bucks for a movie is just steep.

The true irony is that the Due South box set is on Criterion.

Dracula PG Cooper SnoBorderZeroJust curious, have you guys seen the extended cut of Cimino's Heaven's Gate? It's available on Criterion but not on the channel. Was curious as to your thoughts before investing 3 1/2+ hours. I also have some reasons as to why I want to check out any of Cimino's stuff that I've missed but I'll share that at a later time.

I don't recall what cut of the movie I watched. It's.. certainly something. It's indulgent and long, but definitely has its moments. Not sure I 100% stand by my four out of five review and wouldn't recommend blind buying, but it's probably worth watching at least once.

The main difference between the two cuts is that the extended cut takes too long to get to the plot. It opens with Kris Kristopherson as a college student in Harvard and spends like 30 minutes or an hour on it. There’s even like a big musical-dance scene. Then the movie fast forwards to Kristopherson as an adult and gets to the point of the movie which is cattle barons hiring mercenaries to get rid off immigrants in Wyoming.
