I'm insulted you didn't tag me after the amount of bitching I've done in this thread. Fixed.

Hell. Mother. Fuckin'. Yes. Now they just need to do something about A Woman in Paris, A King of New York, and the First National shorts and I'll be done replacing my M2K boxed set.

Also, this puts us up through spine number 997, meaning that we're likely to get spine number 1000 next month unless they decide to hold it until November for some sort of Christmas time boxed set.

Don't know if that's backed up by any insider info or if it's just total fanboy wishful thinking.

Might be fantasy, but it was the very first laserdisc they put out and there is a certain beauty to Laserdisc number one being DVD/Blu-Ray number 1000. Also Warner has probably made about as much money as they're going to off their blu-ray and they probably aren't rushing to put it out on 4K.

Still, I almost don't want it to be true as it means I'll probably be double-dipping when the ultimate collector's edition is more than sufficient.

The answer is yes, Neverending, I did buy that copy of Power Rangers: The Movie on blu-ray. In fact, I'm pretty sure that's what lifted the jinx on The Circus.

I did a year's subscription of the Criterion Channel but there are a couple that I want that aren't on there. I'll be making a stop or two to B&N in the coming weeks.

No Spine 1000 this month, some good stuff though.
Haxan blu-ray upgrade Sternberg box blu-ray upgrade When We Were Kings Matewan
Anyway the rumors about spine 1000 has shifted from Citizen Kane to a Godzilla box set.

Do box sets count as spines? They've been inconsistent about that. Most of the time a box set will have a spine number and each film in the box will also have a spine number, but sometimes (like the BBS set) the box won't have a number but the films will and other times (like the Zatoichi set) the box will have a spine number and the films in it won't be individually numbered.

Would be cool if 1,000 was a mainstream heavy hitter not on here yet.
Citizen Kane. Vertigo. 2001. Taxi Driver. Apocalypse Now.
Something like that.

I appreciate how Criterion prides itself on upgrading films, 70% of which I've never even heard of, but something special for 1000 would be cool. Vertigo would be an awesome addition to their current Hitchcock lineup.

Exactly, and to be honest it's not entirely a stretch since Criterion has movies from all of those directors in their collection already.

Thing is a lot of those are already being pretty well handled by their studios. 2001 and Apocalpse Now even have 4K UHD releases which probably look better than a Criterion Blu-Ray.
