Another month, another non-announcement of Bringing Up Baby You must really like that movie. I really do. Also, my DVD collection has shrunk to 3 movies. Of the 3, Baby is the one I really care about, so when it gets released on bluray, my collection can be true blu.

I bought zodiac directors cut a few months ago when it was 5 bucks. First Blu Ray I've purchased in well over a year. I hope it's my last but never can tell when the mood strikes.

I bought zodiac directors cut a few months ago when it was 5 bucks. Blu-Ray's are getting pretty cheap. Yeah, the new releases are still a bit pricey, especially since studios are getting lazy and not stuffing them with special features like they did with DVD's. But old(er) blu-ray's are generally in the $5-$10 range. You go to Walmart or Target or Best Buy and can buy a stack of Blu-Ray's for like $60.

Today's the last day for the B&N 50% off sale. If you don't get them now you'll have to wait until, well November I guess. On second thought don't rush, just wait until then.

Alright, final haul:
A Matter of Life and Death Dragon Inn Midnight Cowboy Graduation Beyond the Hills Personal Shopper Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters The Virgin Spring The Age of Innocence The Hero
And because I'm really insane I also went and bought the newly out of print Costa Gavras film The Confession on Ebay for $75. Probably should have just bit the bullet and blind bought that one for $20 when I had the chance.

My last haul was Silence of the Lambs and Kwaidan. Maybe I'll finally get some Ozu in November.

Quite a list of titles. Sadly, The Magnificent Ambersons still isn't the "true cut". I fear we'll never see it.

Dicks out for Wilder, Welles, and Bergman. I'll probably be getting the Bergman set as a Christmas present.

I'm interested in Ambersons and Some Like It Hot, though I'd probably want to watch both before I buy.

As I get older I keep diving back and becoming more intrigued by the classics that have always passed me by. Ambersons I'm not sure I've ever had a chance to see yet. Though I've had some chances to see Some Like It Hot but I've always passed it up because...well...Marilyn Monroe annoys me. I'm more of an Audrey Hepburn kind of guy (hence the avatar). But I've always intended to get around to it one day.

Orson Welles submited his final cut and went on vacation, the spiteful producers then recut the movie behind his back, removed almost an hour from it, gave the film a different ending, and dumped the cut footage into the ocean so that Welles wouldn't be able to fight them on it.

That Some Like It Hot cover does not capture the spirit of the movie at all.

There was two test screenings for the movie and those copies might exist somewhere.

Notorious is the first movie Criterion will release in 2019. That's one title I can cross off of my whine list.
