This movie looks like shit. Didn't think they could do worse than Rob Zombie did, but they're certainly trying. What the hell was this shot on? Looks like a high end DV camera, yuck. This is a Blumhouse movie. All their movies are done on as low a budget as is practical, and it's always cheaper to shoot with a digital camera than to use film. Nobody shoots cheap horror movies on film anymore. |

Nobody shoots cheap horror movies on film anymore. Get Out didn't look like this. Nothing wrong with digital, but this looks ugly. Color palette is bland, the contrast is ugly (crucial for a horror film), and there's no style to this look-wise. I thought David Gordon Green was supposed to elevate this franchise, but if this trailer is any indication he's just extending its misery. |

True. If you don't have a DP who knows how to get the most out of their equipment, it's not going to look right. Of course, a bad DP is just as capable of screwing up a movie shot on film. It just look crappy in a different way than digital.

It just look crappy in a different way than digital. Absolutely. We've seen great work come from iPhones, the format doesn't matter, how it's used does. I just don't see any craft going on with these images. I hated Rob Zombie's films, but those certainly had a look to them that's really absent from the images in the trailer. And the movie itself looks incredibly bland too from a plot perspective. So we're essentially getting the same story as the original, just Jamie Lee Curtis is Dr. Loomis? Look, it's a trailer, and maybe there's more to meet the eye. But how often have we gotten a trailer as dismal as this one and the movie ended up being good? Green seems to be dipping into derivative devices here and not bringing much new to the table, which is disappointing since the man has made some damn good films. Maybe the next trailer will be better, but not sure how this one can inspire anything but dread that we're getting another shitty Halloween movie. |

Definitely a much better trailer than the first one.
Still not impressed that Green is bringing anything new to the table with this movie, but maybe I was too quick to bash it outright. We shall see...

I'm trying to keep my anticipation reasonable despite that trailer and the good word of mouth. Every time I think I'm about to get excited about this movie I keep reminding myself "This is Halloween 11. What are you really excited about. Calm your tits."
But I have some small hope that this might be something special now.

I'm not normally one for slasher flicks, but I saw the original for the first time last Halloween, and really dug it. And this trailer was very good. So yeah, I'm interested.
