Everything in these trailers reminds me of Catwoman, or Spawn.
That's not good.

Wow, the movie is going to be even worse than I thought, that trailer had me cringing the entire time. Definitely an early contender for multiple Razzies, guaranteed. Yeah, that is not a trailer that makes me want to see the movie. Everything in these trailers reminds me of Catwoman, or Spawn. That's not good.

Everything in these trailers reminds me of Catwoman, or Spawn. That's not good. Spawn is actually something that has felt parallel to this movie for me for quite a while. Catwoman not quite as much though. Now I want a version of this movie with Frank Welker voicing Venom with his Dr. Claw voice.

Yikes, that was bad. What is wrong with Sony?
The best I could say prior, was that I at least liked the look of Venom. Now I'm not so sure I even like that aspect of it.

Yeah, I’m with you guys. I have zero interest in this movie. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Spider-Man needs to be in this at some point in order for venom to be made right?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Spider-Man needs to be in this at some point in order for venom to be made right? Well...not necessarily. The imitation of Spider-Man is certainly a personality trait of Venom's, though since the both the symbiote and Eddie Brock exist independently of Spider-Man a Venom origin without Spider-Man is possible. I think most would prefer it if Spider-Man was included in his origin though.

Topher Grace cameo or GTFO.
Or...a Hank Azaria cameo. A little nod to us in the 90's Fox Kids generation.

We shouldn't be seeing him. I don't think he can show up without Marvel's say so. Part of Sony's agreement allows Marvel to have full creative control over any movies involving Spider-Man and Peter Parker. To have Spider-Man (or at least Peter Parker) in this, that would have allowed Marvel to step in and tell them how to handle the production of Venom. Sony is too big headed, and if they can make these movies without anyone else interfering, they will. I guess it's possible Marvel could have given them permission to use him and nothing more, but I'd be surprised by that.
Although while I'm sure a matter of their pride being hit was involved in them needing Marvel's help to get the Spider-Man franchise back on track, probably the bigger part in play here was/is Avi Arad. After the agreement was made, Kevin Feige made it clear he didn't want Arad anywhere near the movies they were making. That apparently didn't sit well with them (naturally, considering he's a big player in Sony).

Gangster squad is literally one of the worst movies of the last decade. Don't even argue it's merits that shit had a chance to be great if they even leaned into the tongue in cheek aspect in the slightest.
I have very little faith Fleischer can make a decent movie. And hardys accent is still so damn bad.

That’s what I have a hard time understanding. Tom Hardy is a great actor, but when I watch these I cringe when I hear him speak. His acting looks horrible. I guess it’s the script? He can only do so much?

I remember seeing Hardy in Star Trek: Nemesis back in 2002, where in interviews people were hailing him as an amazing actor that was going places. After coming out of that movie I thought to myself "Man that guy isn't going anywhere."
Then he disappeared off my radar for about a decade and then spread like wildfire. I'm kinda pleased to have been proven wrong, but I don't think I've still yet seen a movie where he just impressed the hell out of me. Even though he isn't bad in it, he's probably one of the least impressive things in Fury Road. Maybe Dark Knight Rises, but while he did a great job with that damn mask on his face I'd have liked a great performance without one.
Though maybe I'm just not watching the right Tom Hardy movies. His best stuff is probably in the things he did off my radar.

The R rating was the main thing this movie had going for it.
But wait...didn't they already show off some of the R-rated footage at Comic Con? Stupid.

If the last trailer didn't kill a lot of my enthusiasm for the movie maybe I would have cared.
However an R-rating might not have led to an MCU crossover, but it COULD have led to a Deadpool crossover! I would have preferred the latter.

Amy Pascal is so annoying.
And it being Rated-R was the only thing that had me mildly interested. At least getting to see him rip apart people in creative ways would have been somewhat entertaining.
The only way Marvel and Feige would approve of a crossover is if the movie turns out to be pretty good. And it would have to be pretty damn good for Feige to admit to it, considering he hasn't had a say in any of it.
