The cult classic is returning to Showtime. Creators Mark Frost and David Lynch will write all nine episodes, and Lynch will direct each one:

Anyone else really excited about the upcoming return of a classic cult show? Kyle MacLachlan all but confirms his return to the show via Twitter: "Better fire up that percolator and find my black suit :-) #Twinpeaks"

Looks like I have just over a year to finally get around to watching this.
Was there a movie as well?

Yeah there was. I never saw it, and I never watched the original series in its entirety. I suppose I should get on it.

Would the porno version of "Twin Peaks" be called "Twin Peaks?"

The rumours were unfounded.
This is still happening.

Yeah, Lynch is back on board. I was never too worried that it wouldn't happen, Lynch just wanted to get more money and solidify creative control on the project. I've seen every episode and the movie (which is...eh) so I'm really excited for it to return to television.

I've never seen any episodes on TV. Found it on Netflix the other day, might have to start watching it.

Awesome, his score on Lynch's projects always makes everything even more surreal than it already is. Huge plus.

I feel like I'm the only one on here who doesn't have a Lynch-boner. I have tried to watch Twin Peaks, Mullholland Drive, and Blue Velvet and they all put me to sleep.

Eh, Lynch is absolutely not for everyone, in fact he's really not for anyone but himself. There's far more people that don't like him than do. But he does have a rabid following despite not making a new film since 2006.

Just started watching this for the first time. So hooked. I genuinely lolled during the funeral scene.

Enjoy! It runs out of steam a little towards the end, but the final episode is well worth the journey. Thanks. Out of interest, how does the '92 movie measure up against the TV series? It's... pretty meh. To be honest it didn't expand on anything for me really that you didn't already get from the show. Cooper is barely in it due to Kyle Maclachlan wanting to pursue others roles (including being in Showgirls, lol) and it's mostly about Laura Palmer before the murder. I don't remember a ton about it expect a few moments and some odd cameos. I gave it a 7/10, but that's as a fan of the show. For non fans, they would likely hate it. It also seriously lacked the charm and quirk of the series, and was mostly just a bizarre Lynch horror film instead, which I normally like but that's not what makes Twin Peaks great. Not many of the characters resurface in it, which is disappointing as well. Watch it when you finish the series because why not, but the series is certainly where it's at.
