Happy 25th anniversary, Saved by the Bell. Thank you for giving me false hopes when I was in Elementary School. And thank you for giving me an escape from reality when I was in High School. You're an awful, awful show but also one of my favorites. The love-hate is strong.
#10 - EARTHQUAKE Written by Scott Spencer Gordon Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: November 21, 1992
Zack Morris and "Tori the Lesbian" get stuck in an elevator with Mr. Belding's pregnant wife during and after an earthquake. And that's the moment when the woman goes into labor and Zack has to deliver the baby. Life is cruel to Mr. Belding. The student he hates the most is the one he needs the most.
#9 - SLATER'S WAR Original Airdate: September 28, 1993
This episode from The College Years is mockingly referred to as the one where A.C. Slater discovers that he's Mexican. A.C. Slater starts dating a fellow Mexican student and begins to embrace his Mexican heritage. You see, since The College Years was a primetime show, the writers and producers decided to give the series some seriousness and social awareness. It worked for the most part. And the parts that didn't were unintentionally hilarious. I'll never forget Zack's line, "I thought he was Italian."
#8 - THE LAST WEEKEND Written by Brett Dewey & Ronald B. Solomon Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: October 26, 1991 (seriously)
In season 3, the writers and producers got tired of looking at the same sets everyday so they made 6 episodes at a beach resort, 2 episodes at a luxury hotel, 3 episodes at the mall, the hilariously bad Zack Attack episode, and that weird episode based on the Clue board game and movie. And let's not forget the "Adventures in Hawaii" TV Movie which aired during the beginning of season 4. But of all these outside-of-school episodes, the ones people remember the most are the beach resort ones which feature stand-out performances by Leah Remini and Ernie Sabella. Choosing a favorite is difficult because these episodes aren't stand-alone. They literally play-out like a 6-part episode about the gang getting summer jobs at a beach resort. But since I'm forcing myself to choose one, I guess I'll go with the last one because it perfectly captures that end-of-summer and back-to-reality feeling every teenager gets in August or September when it's time to return to school.
#7 - MISS BAYSIDE Written by Bennett Tramer (yes, the guy from John Carpenter's Halloween) Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: October 27, 1990
Feminist Jessie Spano protests the annual High School beauty pageant and forces Mr. Belding into letting Screech and A.C. Slater join. Then, Zack Morris bets Slater that Screech will win... and he does. Just look at Screech's face. He has never been happier.
#6 - SLATER'S FRIEND Written by Larry Balmagia & Scott Spencer Gordon Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: November 28, 1992
NOTE: This episode was made during season 1 but aired as the 100th episode during season 4. In the early days, NBC got nervous about some of the wackier episodes and didn't air them. One of the reasons behind the "middle school episodes" was to fill in the cap. Then in season 4, with syndication on the horizon, NBC decided to air all the "banned" episodes so they can sweeten the deal. And thankfully, the proper episode order was restored in syndication for future generations.
And yes, this is the episode where A.C. Slater dresses up as a f---ing lizard. Basically - and I'm not making this up - the episode is about Slater's pet lizard getting accidentally killed by Zack Morris and then having a funeral for him. The song, "Artie Boy," will be in my memory banks forever.
#5 - PRACTICAL JOKES Written by Howard Ostroff Directed by Gary Shimokawa Original Airdate: February 25, 1989
Before Saved by the Bell, there was Good Morning, Miss Bliss. They are different shows made by the same people and about the same characters. And that gave NBC the opportunity to turn both shows into one by incorporating Miss Bliss into Saved by the Bell as the Middle School episodes, even though there's a million continuity errors. It's like that episode of Star Trek where they turned the original pilot into a 2-part episode about Spock on trial for breaking Starfleet law. Anyway, Miss Bliss is very different from Saved by the Bell. It relies more on realism and school-life than teenage hijinks. Of the 13 episodes produced between 1988 and 89, the one that best illustrates that is Practical Jokes. This episode is about Screech being accused of ruining Miss Bliss' sweater during a prank. But instead of sending him to the Principal's office and calling his parents, Miss Bliss decides to turn the whole incident into a mock court trial with Zack Morris as Screech's lawyer. And yes, it plays out exactly like an episode of Franklin & Bash which you can watch every Wednesday on TNT.
#4 - CREAM FOR A DAY Written by Scott Spencer Gordon Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: October 7, 1989
Screech makes a cream that can eliminate zits in a day and Zack Morris sells it to every student at school. And as you can imagine, there's a big side-effect and hilarity ensues.
#3 - SCREECH'S BIRTHDAY Written by Stephen Langford Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: November 14, 1992
Here's another season 1 episode that didn't air until season 4. This one isn't as stupid as the lizard one but it's just as crazy. Zack Morris gets the wild idea of having Screech's birthday in Mr. Belding's office and spends the entire school day trying to pull it off. On second thought, it's just as stupid, but you go with it cause it's so damn funny. Plus, Kevin the Robot makes a guest appearance. You can't hate any episode with Kevin the Robot. Oh, and Mr. Dewey. He's awesome too.
#2 - JESSIE'S SONG Written by Peter Engel & Tom Tenowich Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: November 3, 1990
#1 - THE ZACK TAPES Written by Peter Engel & Tom Tenowich Directed by Don Barnhart Original Airdate: December 2, 1989
I know what you're thinking, "blasphemy! Jessie's Song is #1." But hear me out. This is the episode where Zack Morris uses subliminal tapes to get Kelly KaPOWski to go out with him and then accidentally makes the whole school fall in love with him. This is the episode where A.C. Slater says to people, "he's going to the dance with me!" This is the episode where Screech dresses up as a girl and calls himself Barbara Bush. Come on. You know this is #1. Or maybe it's the one where they do a hip-hop version of Snow White. I don't know. I flipped a coin.
# 9 - MOVIE & TV FLASH DRIVES Why the hell did the entertainment industry replace the DVD with...another disc? Did the music biz replace the CD with another disc? No. Someone was smart enough to create an MP3 player. Right now, I can get my USB drive, plug it on my TV, and listen to music, view photos, and watch certain videos. So, why hasn't somebody created one specifically to watch HIGH QUALITY films and television shows?
You Can Now Download Movies And TV Shows To An SD Card Through The Amazon Video App For Offline Watching
Amazon has released a small but important update for its Amazon Video app for Android devices, which will now allow users to choose the location for storing downloaded files.
The update may not sound like much, but for Amazon Video users, it will provide them with more capabilities and offline watching.
Amazon Video allows users to download movies and TV shows to watch them even while offline, which is a feature not found in most other streaming video apps such as Netflix. However, the app will only save the videos into the internal storage of the mobile device, which severely limits the number of TV show episodes and feature-length films that can be present in a smartphone or tablet at a time.
The update that Amazon released for Amazon Video, specifically version 3.0.185.111701, contains the usual performance improvements and bug fixes, along with the new option to download movies and TV shows to the SD card of a mobile device to be able to watch the videos while offline.
With the update, users of the Amazon Video app will be able to download as many videos as their SD card would allow. This would be very useful to binge watch episodes of TV shows or several movies during long idle times, such as when traveling long distances or when having to wait for hours.
The feature, however, has only been made available to users of the Amazon Video app in certain locations, namely the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany and Austria.
Users will be able to download videos to the SD cards of their mobile devices whether they are subscribers to Amazon Prime or not. Amazon Video can be accessed by both Prime and non-Prime customers as an app where TV show episodes and movies can be purchased or rented. Nothing else is needed aside from an account on the massive online retailer.
With the recently concluded Amazon Prime Day, however, it is most likely that there was a significant increase in the number of Prime members. These users would also be able to utilize the new Android Video feature for downloading to an SD card for Prime-exclusive videos.
Amazon Prime Video has also recently been tapped as the exclusive streaming location for many popular Warner Bros. movies, including Space Jam, Twister and The Wedding Singer, with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Matrix, Final Destination, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Training Day, among many others, to also be made available soon.
Here is a show that has defied expectations by lasting 20 years and 754 episode so far. How does one even choose a top 10 with so many options? Well, I guess it depends on your generation. I grew up with the original series and will always be biased towards it. So keep that in mind, Google Bots and Lurkers. As for the CS! folks, I hope this list is at least amusing.
#10 - LOST AND FOUND IN TRANSLATION from POWER RANGERS DINO THUNDER Original Airdate: June 13, 2004 Written by Steve Slavkin Directed by Britta Johnstone & Koichi Sakamoto
Almost everyone knows that Power Rangers is based on Japan's iconic Super Sentai franchise. Based, however, is a misleading word because Power Rangers relies on stock footage from their Japanese counterpart. So it is more than just an adaptation. It's an Americanization of Super Sentai. That's fine, I guess, because I doubt a dubbed version would have been successful. With the exception of Anime, Japanese television has never been popular in mainstream America. That being said, the producers of Power Rangers eventually felt the need to honor their Japanese partners by breaking the 4th wall and acknowledging Super Sentai in one of the episodes. It's a really cool episode and anyone interested should check it out. All episodes of Power Rangers are available on Netflix's streaming service.
#9 - FIGHTING SPIRIT from POWER RANGERS DINO THUNDER Original Airdate: August 28, 2004 Written by Jackie Marchand Directed by Britta Johnstone & Koichi Sakamoto
In 2004, when I found out that Tommy (Jason David Frank) was returning for an entire season of Power Rangers, I nearly s--t my pants. The producers must have known fans would react that way because they did everything they could to take advantage of their nostalgia. The highlight of the season is when Tommy fights his previous incarnations. It sounds stupid but it's f---ing awesome:
#8 - GOOD AS GOLD from POWER RANGERS ZEO Original Airdate: November 23, 1996 Written by Douglas Sloan Directed by Vickie Bronaugh
This is the final episode of Power Rangers Zeo and they did something different to honor the occasion. Usually, a Power Rangers episode ends with the monster becoming a giant and the Rangers using their MegaZord to fight it. Here they cut the middle man by having the main villains AND the Power Rangers become giants for the climactic battle. It's awesome! Another thing I enjoy is Jason's farewell as a series regular. Next to Tommy, he is my favorite Power Ranger and he left by walking off into the sunset with a beautiful girl under his arm. That's a cool exit.
#7 - GREEN NO MORE, PART II from MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS Original Airdate: September 28, 1994 Written by Stewart St. John Directed by John Stewart
Speaking of cool exits, the Green Ranger went out like a badass. He was a one-man-army that saved the day as his powers were being drained. A lot of credit has to be given to Jason David Frank who made the character very popular because of his skills as a martial artists. But let's also not forget Shiro Izumi, the actor that played Green Ranger in the stock footage. He did an incredible job as well. In fact, he was so admired and respected in Japan that there was an outrage when the Green Ranger was killed. That's right! The Green Ranger died in the Japanese version. Super Sentai is a very silly program but they do have some very dramatic moments and here's one of them:
#6 - FOOD FIGHT from MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS Original Airdate: September 4, 1993 Written by Cheryl Saban Directed by Robert Hughes
Power Rangers is an incredibly campy show and no episode illustrates that better than Food Fight. In the episode, the Power Rangers participate in a food festival at their favorite hangout, the Juice Bar. The villain Rita creates a pig monster that crashes the festival, eats all the food, and then goes on an eating rampage across the city. The Power Rangers, of course, try to stop it and discover that healthy food is the only thing that can kill it. So in the middle of all this silliness they're trying to teach kids a lesson. I don't know if it worked but they did sell a lot of Pudgy Pig action figures, so it must have left some impression.
#5 - LIFE'S A MASQUERADE from MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS Original Airdate: October 30, 1993 Written by Cheryl Saban Directed by Robert Hughes
In season one's Halloween episode, the Power Rangers fight Frankenstein and he kicks their butt. Usually, the monsters they fought were goofy looking and could be easily defeated. But, as I mentioned yesterday with King Kong vs Godzilla, once you have a performer in a flexible costume it allows opportunity to have good fight scenes. In this case, they ended up with a spectacular MegaZord battle scene. Check it out:
#4 & 3 - COUNTDOWN TO DESTRUCTION from POWER RANGERS IN SPACE Original Airdates: November 20 & 21, 1998 Written by Judd Lynn and Koichi Sakamoto Directed by Jonathan Tzachor
Power Rangers has been on the air for 20 years, but originally, it was only supposed to last 6 seasons. Power Rangers in Space was the big finale and they went out with a bang. In the final 2-part episode, every villain ever featured in the series team-up to conquer the universe. It's such an EPIC scenario that the Power Rangers couldn't handle it. The only way they defeated the bad guys was by sacrificing Zordon, their mystical leader that's better known as "The Floating Head in the Tube." Most people consider this the best episode in the series because of its EPIC scale. But as a first-generation fan I'm disappointed the original characters weren't included. It's a fantastic episode but not quite #1 for me.
#2 - GUNG HO! from MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS Original Airdate: October 25, 1993 Written by Mark Hoffmeier Directed by Robert Hughes
The Green Ranger stole the spotlight from the Red Ranger. So it is no surprise that these two hated each other in the beginning. It is always fun to watch heroes bicker with each other. That's why Batman and Superman are always a fun pairing. However, they eventually have to learn to get along in order to save the world. That's what happens here... sort of. What I love about this episode is that nothing major happens. Tommy and Jason are participating in a martial arts competition and the only way they can win is through teamwork. This episode is so down-to-Earth that it's almost relatable.
#1 - GREEN WITH EVIL, PART I from MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS Original Airdate: October 5, 1993 Written by Gary Glasberg & Stewart St. John Directed by Robert Hughes
In late August of 1993, the Power Rangers premiered just in time for the new school year. At first, most people didn't know what to think. With episodes like Food Fight, Power Rangers was perceived to be a strange show, but it had dinosaurs and martial arts so we all watched it. Keep in mind that Jurassic Park and Ninja Turtles were the craze at the time. Then... this happened:
That's only one clip but you get the point. In one single episode the Evil Green Ranger destroys the commander center, gets rid of Zordon, puts a virus on Alpha 5, and single-handling beats up all five Power Rangers. For many of us this was our first "watercooler talk." Everybody, and I mean everybody, was talking about this episode the next day. It's the episode that got us hooked on Power Rangers. When you begin to wonder why Power Rangers has lasted 20 years and 754 episodes, all you have to do is watch Green with Evil.

9 ANNIVERSARIES THE OSCARS CELEBRATING THIS YEAR
90 YEARS AGO, WINGS WON THE FIRST EVER OSCAR FOR BEST PICTURE
80 YEARS AGO, THE OSCARS RECEIVED THEIR FIRST SIGNIFICANT BACKLASH
In 1937, Walt Disney released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the first feature-length animated film and one of the most beloved classics of all-time. The Oscars gave it a single nomination: Best Score. Outraged quickly followed and the Oscars made up for it by giving Disney an honorary award.
70 YEARS AGO, THE FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN MALE WON AN ACADEMY AWARD
Speaking of Disney and honorary awards...
60 YEARS AGO, THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI WON BEST PICTURE
50 YEARS AGO, THE ACADEMY AWARDS WERE POSTPONED FOR TWO DAYS DUE TO THE ASSASSINATION OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR
40 YEARS AGO THEY GAVE A BEST PICTURE OSCAR TO WOODY ALLEN, OVER STAR WARS. OOPS!
30 YEARS AGO, JAMES BOND WON AN OSCAR
20 YEARS AGO, JAMES CAMERON WAS THE KING OF THE WORLD
10 YEARS AGO, MARION COTILLARD WON AN OSCAR... CAUSE SHE'S HOT. PROGRESS!
In honor of the NWA biopic, here's a list of their 10 best songs.
#10 - FINDUM, FUCKEM & FLEE (1991)
NWA has a reputation for being an important rap group. They were not the first rap artists to make songs about life in the ghetto, but they were the first to be unfiltered and politically incorrect. But when you listen to their actual albums, there's a lot of juvenile songs that are very reflective of their youth. The age of the members ranged from late teens to early 20's and sexually aggressive songs, like this one, gave listeners an insight into the other side of the group. It can also be argued that these songs opened the door to all the misogynist songs that have plagued the rap genre for the past 25 years. I'm not defending these songs. I'm just saying that they have their place in history.
#9 - DOPEMAN (1986)
Before NWA broke-out with Straight Outta Compton in 1988, they made an EP in 1986 titled Panic Zone. They kept copies in the trunk of their car and sold it at clubs and parties. The main track from that EP is Dopeman, a song about a drug dealer that's destroying a neighborhood. The song offered audiences a preview of the group's greatness.
#8 - EXPRESS YOURSELF (1988)
Before 1990, Dr. Dre's role on NWA was strictly as a producer and he only made cameo appearances in various songs. But Express Yourself was an exception and gave listeners a glimpse of Dr. Dre's future career as a rap artist.
#7 - CHIN CHECK (1999)
In the late 1990's, there was rumors of an NWA reunion album with Snoop Dogg replacing the late Eazy-E. But with the exception of two songs and performances at the Up In Smoke Tour, nothing ever happened. That's a shame because if this song is any indication, it would have been an entertaining album.
#6 - HELLO (2000)
Minus Snoop Dogg, this is the other NWA reunion song. It appeared in Ice Cube's album, War & Peace Vol.2 (The Peace Disc). I love Snoop Dogg but excluding him here was a good thing. Hello sounds like a pure NWA song and felt like a proper reunion.
#5 - BOYZ N THE HOOD (1987)
NWA can be a very in-your-face group but sometimes they toned it down and created poetic music instead. This is a socially conscience NWA song that you can listen to with White people and not feel awkward.
#4 - WE WANT EAZY (1988)
Everyone has to pay the bills, including the members of NWA, so forgive them for making a radio-friendly song. At least it's a fun party song.
#3 - 100 MILES AND RUNNIN' (1990)
Ice Cube quit NWA in 1989 over a contract dispute and he left a giant void. So, Dr. Dre stepped up his game and quickly put together this fast-paced and passionate song inspired by the 1979 cult film, The Warriors. It worked and NWA survived long enough to spawn one last album in 1991.
#2 - FUCK THA POLICE (1988)
2014 was a big year for police brutality in the Black neighborhoods and this song from 1988 became the perfect battle cry for those fighting back.
#1 - STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON (1988)
NWA was a short-lived group but they changed the rape game and this is the song that did it.

THE 10 HIGHEST GROSSING CLINT EASTWOOD MOVIES, ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION
Back in December, when American Sniper was released in a few theaters to qualify for the Academy Awards, who would have thought that it would become the 3rd highest grossing movie of 2014 and break every January record in existence? Dracula literally said that it wouldn't make more than $40 million. And he was right to be skeptical. Clint Eastwood hasn't had a blockbuster in, well, ages. Some would argue that America Sniper IS Eastwood's first blockbuster. But as I like to tell PG Cooper , Eastwood has been making movies since the 1950's and directing since the 1970's, so it's good to put things in perspective. And with that in mind, here are Eastwood's 10 highest grossing movies when adjusted for inflation.
#10 - SUDDEN IMPACT (1983) - $172 MILLION
Sudden Impact is the 4th Dirty Harry movie and the only one to be OFFICIALLY directed by Clint Eastwood. It dealt with a woman seeking revenge against the people who raped her, but the movie is best remembered for the catchphrase, "go ahead, make my day". It was such a popular line of dialogue that U.S. President Ronald Regan said it in one of his speeches.
#9 - THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY (1967) - $173 MILLION
Clint Eastwood became a household name in the 1950's when he was cast as the co-lead in the television series, Rawhide. But it took a trilogy of Italian produced westerns to turn him into an international superstar. In America, however, there was some hesitation because of the violence and unorthodox approach of these movies. They were called "spaghetti westerns" as an insult. But since 1967 was long before home video and the internet, movies could remain in theaters until the film deteriorated, and that allowed certain movies the opportunity to find an audience and do well at the box office.
#8 - THE ENFORCER (1976) - $180.1 MILLION
The Enforcer is the 3rd Dirty Harry movie and it received special attention in 1976 because it featured a female police officer as Harry's partner. And since this was at the height of the feminist political movement, people thought that was kinda cool.
#7 - DIRTY HARRY (1971) - $180.9 MILLION
Everyone has their favorite Clint Eastwood movie, but there's no denying that Dirty Harry is the one that defines his career. Dirty Harry isn't a simple movie about a cop trying to stop a serial killer. It's a political statement about a man who will do anything to protect the innocent, even if it means breaking every law in the book. Dirty Harry was very controversial in 1971, and considering recent events involving police officers, it could still reignite a debate. Personally, I do believe that cops should have restrictions and people's rights shouldn't be violated, but let's also remember that Dirty Harry isn't about the average citizen or even the average criminal. It tells a story about a character who is forced into extremes and his actions are justified. And in case you missed the point or disagree, there's...
#6 - MAGNUM FORCE (1973) - $186 MILLION
Despite the controversy, Dirty Harry was a box office success. It wasn't an American Sniper type of success, but keep in mind that social media didn't exist in 1971. If the people in your life weren't bitching about a movie, controversy seemed like other people's problems. It's like that Chris Rock joke about misogynist rap songs, "he ain't talking about me." Nonetheless, Clint Eastwood, as the producer of Dirty Harry, did feel the need to address the controversy and that lead to the creation of Magnum Force. Here, Dirty Harry goes up against cops who really do abuse the law. If Dirty Harry was to become a successful franchise, it was critical to make it clear that the character isn't the bad guy.
#5 - UNFORGIVEN (1992) - $202 MILLION
Unforgiven is Clint Eastwood's final western and it's considered by many to be his best movie as a director. It also won the Academy Award for Best Picture and its box office success was seen as a pleasant surprise. Could American Sniper, which is nominated for Best Picture, duplicate this experience for Eastwood? Time will tell.
#4 - IN THE LINE OF FIRE (1993) - $205 MILLION
In the Line of Fire is a well-regarded thriller about a secret service agent who has to stop an assassin. My grandfather is a big fan of Clint Eastwood, so I grew up on all his classic movies. But for most people my age, this was their introduction to Eastwood. The 1990's was a decade filled with high-concept action movies and this was one of the big ones.
#3 - ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN (1980) - $218 MILLION
If you watched American Sniper because it was your patriotic duty, then this movie is for you. I'm sure Justin has it on VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray. It's the only movie he owns.
#2 - AMERICAN SNIPER (2014)
As of February 6, American Sniper has grossed $264 million domestically. It's a phenomenon. There's no question about it. Even SnoBorderZero would agree. But... it's not #1.
#1 - EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE (1978) - $302 MILLION
That's right. Once upon a time, Clint Eastwood made a movie with a monkey... and people loved it. There's even a theme song!!!
This is literally what @dukeleto , Ramplate and frankyt listen to in the car.
PANIC AT MALIBU PIER Written by Michael Berk & Douglas Schwartz and Gregory J. Bonann Directed by Richard Compton Original Airdate: April 23, 1989
Like most one-hour genre shows of the day, Baywatch began as a TV Movie of the Week. It stars Mädchen Amick (of Twin Peaks fame) as a psychotic teenage girl who tries to commit suicide and is rescued by part-time lifeguard/part-time lawyer Craig Pomeroy (Parker Stevenson). She becomes so infatuated with this lifeguard that she'll do anything to be with him, even if it means killing his wife. So yes, this show that's famous for hot babes running in slow motion, started out as a Michael Douglas movie. But don't worry. There's plenty of David Hasselhoff to go around. He's stuck in the B-plot but it sets up a story-arc for his character that'll play out during season one. He divorced his wife (played by Wendie Malick of Just Shoot Me fame) and is having custody battle over their son. Their son here (and in season one) is played by a different actor than the one most associated with the role. Hasselhoff has also been promoted to Lieutenant and is struggling with his new position as an authority figure. His superior is constantly on his ass for babying his lifeguards and not delegating enough. This part made me scratch my head a bit because it seems like Baywatch is more about the Coast Guard than it is about lifeguards. There's so many scenes here that depict events that, realistically, lifeguards would never handle. They might assist, but really, it seems like a job for the Coast Guard. Do lifeguards really need a "lieutenant"? Between this and the psycho girl, this whole TV Movie comes across as a giant pile of nonsense.
SECOND WAVE Written by Jill Donner Directed by Scott Brazil Original Airdate: October 13, 1989
Eddie Kramer (Billy Warlock) is a rookie lifeguard with a dark past - and now that past has come to haunt him. I don't know where to even begin with this episode. There's too much chaos happening. David Spade and Mariska Hargitay guest star. This shrimp of a lifeguard is getting into fist fights on the beach. A watchtower gets blown up. I can't imagine a career as a lifeguard could be this exciting. Shit, meeting David Spade? What a privilege!
THE DROWNING POOL Written by William A. Schwartz Directed by Mario DiLeo Original Airdate: November 3, 1989
This is one of the dumbest things ever. I'm probably dumber now for having watched it. So Jill Riley (Shawn Weatherly) is a witness to a murder. That's right. A murder! On the beach! This old guy is swimming by the shore, minding his own business, and a scuba diver comes underneath and pulls him down to the depths of the ocean and drowns him. Yes. All this on a busy Santa Monica beach with people around them and lifeguard Jill Riley on the scenes. The balls on this murderer. But hey, it worked. The scuba diver gets away and now we have a murder mystery on our hands - that the lifeguards must solve. How did this show not win the Emmy?
CRUISE SHIP Written by Jill Donner & William A. Schwartz Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace (yes, the Tommy Lee Wallace) Original Airdate: November 24, 1989
Holy shit! Bryan Cranston was on Baywatch!
SHELTER ME Written by Terry Erwin Directed by Scott Brazil Original Airdate: December 8, 1989
A-plot: As a hurricane approaches, two escaped convicts hold Baywatch headquarters hostage.
B-plot: Eddie and Shauni (Erika Eleniak) finally shag up.
C-plot: David Hasselhoff's son is left home alone (even though a hurricane is set to arrive) and gets romantic with a friend-girl from school.

HILARIOUSLY BAD BAYWATCH EPISODES - PART TWO: THE INFAMOUS SHARK EPISODE
SHARK DERBY Written by Kate Boutilier & Terry Erwin Directed by Gregory J. Bonann Original Airdate: March 2, 1990
Forget Jaws 3-D. Forget Sharknado and The Meg. This is at least at the caliber of The Shallows, starring Ryan Reynolds' wife. Bucky (Peter Brown), a local businessman, wants to promote his beach shore restaurant by hosting a shark derby. To spice up the event, he hires two goons (played by Reed Rudy and Michael Stoyanov) to attract more sharks to the area. You'd think the city would put a stop to this. Is having a bunch of idiots fishing for sharks, just to boost business for one restaurant, worth risking public safety? Apparently so, cause they don't interfere at all and soon the beaches become shark infested. It leads to the death of lifeguard Jill Riley. The actress, Shawn Weatherly, wanted out of her contract so the writer/producers responded by feeding her to a shark. Hilarious. Soon after, David Hasselhoff seeks revenge for the death of Jill and goes after Bucky and his whole operation. Not the government. Not the cops. But Michael Knight himself.
I stroked it to Mrs. Doubtfire herself a few times.
Robin Williams was hotter in Popeye.
