Guessing Jungle Cruise's Disney Plus premier numbers will be pretty decent. They already released them. It's supposedly about $30 million, if you want to believe that.

That movie looked like some bland ass shit from the jump. But sure blame covid/Disney's release for the poor performance.

If these anemic box office results keep happening it's going to be increasingly difficult to justify making $200 million dollar tentpoles, especially once the streaming gold rush settles.

And it certainly didn't help that The Suicide Squad was also available for free on HBO Max. WB doesn't deserve the right to act disappointed in this instance.

it's going to be increasingly difficult to justify making $200 million dollar tentpoles Jaws cost $9 million. Star Wars cost $11 million. That’s roughly $50-60 million in 2021. Which is the budget for Quiet Place II, currently the 3rd highest grossing film of the year and clearly the most profitable. I think for the foreseeable future Hollywood is gonna have to adjust the type of movies it makes. There is an audience to keep cinema alive but it’s not a huge one. Black Widow, our current #1 movie has sold 19 million tickets. In 2019, that was the amount of tickets sold for Jordan Peele’s Us — a movie that only cost $20 million to make. That’s the realm that Hollywood’s gonna have to function in going forward. The rebirth of the mid-budget movie.

Doomsday’s Free Guy starring Ryan Reynolds opened at #1 with $28.4M. Don’t Breathe #2 with $10.6M. Jungle Cruise #3 with $9M ($82.1M). Respect #4 with $8.8M. Suicide Squad nose dived to #5 with $7.5M ($42.6M). A sequel to Free Guy is in the works. Will Doomsday return? Opening next weekend is the long-anticipated Paw Patrol movie.

I'm looking forward to Reminiscence. The movie is quite the question mark. I've seen the trailer in front of damn near everything I've gone to see, someone is clearly trying to make this thing happen, but aside from paid advertising the buzz is completely negligible and there rather tellingly hasn't been a single review. You would think that if this thing was going to be well received they'd want to get it out in front of critics and tastemakers asap what with it being an original IP, but they haven't, which seems like a bad sign.

Yeah the trailer does hit a few if my sweet spots, but it looks like it could range anywhere from low end middling to sneaky good.

I was on Johansson's side on that one at first, but then I found out they were in fact counting the Disney+ grosses towards her bonuses, which makes things a lot more complicated.

Any time an actor has points on a film, they usually wind up either suing the studio or settling out of court. The studios always claim that films make less money that they truly do. It's SOP for them. It's even worse when it's net points. If someone wants to get paid from net points, the only way to do so is to do an audit of the financials.
