The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is #1 in Canada with $900,000. Expect a review from PG Cooper and IanTheCool on their podcast tomorrow afternoon. Available on Apple, Spotify and wherever podcasts are sold. Russell Crowe's Unhinged grossed $582,000. The Canadian distributor said that Canadians might not relate to road rage and expects it to do better in the States. That's not a joke. That's a real quote. And now... SnoBorderZeroChina Box Office 1. Harry Potter - $13.65M PhantomKnight2. Bad Boys For Life - $3.20M 3. The Eight Hundred - $$2.07M 4. Interstellar - $1.69M 5. Sheep Without A Shepherd - $1.46M

You’re more excited for SpongeBob than PhantomKnight is about Harry Potter doing well in China. $13M in the pandemic is nothing to sleep on.

It hadn't crossed the billion mark until now? That's surprising.

It hadn't crossed the billion mark until now? That's surprising. The only movie that had crossed a billion when it came out was Titanic. Another one wouldn't be for a few years with Return of the King. Until now the only Harry Potter movie to cross a billion was Deathly Hallows Part 2.

I could've sworn Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets had done it. Neverending will chalk this up to me just being nostalgic for the 2000s again.

It went on to gross over 900 million, which was nothing to sneeze at and was one of the highest grossing movies ever at the time. Even if it didn't break a billion, what it achieved was super impressive.

I remember kids in my class being pulled out of school to see it on opening day and returning with McDonald's. Fuckers.
Joke's on them though because they can't read now.

It hadn't crossed the billion mark until now? That's surprising. Titanic is the first movie to gross $1 Billion worldwide. Then LOTR: ROTK. Then POTC: Dead Man’s Chest. Then the Dark Knight. And finally Avatar. Once the 2010’s arrived and China’s theatrical exhibition became as big as America’s (or bigger), it is expected for blockbuster to gross $1 Billion. $2 Billion is the new $1 Billion. Endgame, Avatar, Titanic, Force Awakens and Infinity War have grossed $2 Billion.

I'm sure that movie presents a nuanced and unbiased view of history.

I'm sure that movie presents a nuanced and unbiased view of history. Hollywood movies aren't exactly objective most of the time when it comes to US military history. The primary difference is motivation. Chinese film makers are required by the government to provide pro-government propaganda. US film makers are motivated to provide a positive outlook on US troops by the box office, because anything else won't make money. The end results are the same, either way.
