Speaking of debates, yesterday was the 25th anniversary of Robocop 2. That movie is either awesome or horrible, depending on who you ask. Personally, I think it's both. There's A LOT to hate about Robocop 2 but it also has its moments. Let's ask Wyldstaar for his opinion. Robocop was an awesome combination of satire, edge, action and sci-fi. Robocop 2 was a mindlessly generic summer action movie. Fun, but forgettable.

Robocop 2 was a mindlessly generic summer action movie. I wouldn't say generic. They did have a child as a villain and then killed him. There was some cojones in Frank Miller's script.

Remember saveus? He used to put on Facebook all the time how Robocop 2 was the worst movie he had ever seen. I'm not a huge fan of Robocop 2 but man was it dark but in a cool way. It really did take a set of cojones.

Yeah. Justin's friend. He and Justin were HUGE fans of the new Judge Dredd movie. I kinda have a soft spot for it cause it's the first Robocop I saw. If you saw it as a kid it WAS a very adult movie. I always remember the scene where Robocop electrocutes himself so he can reboot his system. I don't know why that scene stuck with me.

Is it 1993 again?
Jurassic World is the #1 movie this weekend with $54.2 million. The movie has now grossed $500 million domestically and over $1 billion worldwide. Brace yourself for Star Wars in December.
Inside Out is closely behind at #2 with $52.1 million. It should reach $200 million domestically this week. And Ted 2 is #3 with $33 million. Seth MacFarlane couldn't compete with dinosaurs and Pixar.
Opening on Wednesday is Magic Mike XXL and Terminator: Genisys.
Summer 2015 didn't do too well financially in May but it kicked ass in June. Now let's see what July brings to the table.

I hope Terminator fails so bad. I was really rooting for it up until the last month or so. The more I saw the more I hated it and with that clip showing no Bil Paxton or bad guy from Fright Night 2 I am dead set against this movie.

Jurassic World and Inside Out will probably continue to dominate until Ant-Man is released. Unless the ladies show up in full force for Magic Mike XXL.

I predict Terminator to open with 30 million. It's possible. Nostalgia alone should help the movie.

THIS WEEK IN BOX OFFICE HISTORYTomorrow is the 10th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds. Jibbs and I are the only people who like it. Oh well. The movie opened on a Wednesday and grossed a 6-day total of $112.7 million. That's $142.8 million when adjusted for inflation. War of the Worlds went on to become the 4th highest grossing film of 2005 in North America and the 2nd highest grosser of the summer. Tuesday is the 15th anniversary of three movies that are very close to SnoBorderZero 's heart, George Clooney's The Perfect Storm, Mel Gibson's The Patriot and Robert De Niro's The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle. To this day, he doesn't know which one he loves the most. The Perfect Storm was #1 at the box office. Dracula is old enough to remember a time when people were in awe of a CGI ocean wave. Those were simpler times. The George Clooney & Marky Mark epic grossed a 5-day total of $62.7 million. That's $94.5 million when adjusted for inflation. The Patriot was #2 with $44.5 million or $67.1 million when adjusted for inflation. The Perfect Storm was the 6th highest grossing film of 2000 and The Patriot was #19. But don't feel bad for Mel Gibson. If I correctly recall my entertainment news from 2000, Mel Gibson became the first actor to have three movies gross $100 million in one year. Chicken Run, The Patriot, and What Women Want - which outgrossed The Perfect Storm - were those films. Meanwhile... Rocky & Bullwinkle was a joke and flopped. But don't feel bad for De Niro either. He rebounded later that year with Meet The Parents. Also on Tuesday is the 20th anniversary of Doomsday 's favorite movie, The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. That's right! Ivan Ooze is almost old enough to legally drink alcohol. Make plans to celebrate. Another classic opened on that day, Sylvester Stallone's Judge Dredd. thebtskink , can you believe that Power Rangers and Judge Dredd opened on the same day and FLOPPED? What could have possibly beaten them? Apollo 13. Yup. Apollo 13 turns 20 on Tuesday. It was the 3rd highest grossing film of 1995 and was nominated for 9 Academy Awards including Best Picture. So let me get this straight. Braveheart AND Apollo 13 were both summer blockbusters? And both had music by the late James Horner? Ain't that interesting, PG Cooper ? Also tomorrow is the 25th anniversary of Tom Cruise and Tony Scott's follow-up to Top Gun, Days of Thunder. This movie was no Top Gun. Opening opposite Days of Thunder was Bill Cosby's notorious flop, Ghost Dad. Cosby plans to star in a remake of Ghost Dad when he passes away. This time, he's gonna be haunting the women he raped. ... Too soon? TODAY is the 30th anniversary of Pale Rider, which I mentioned last week, and St. Elmo's Fire. But no one cares about that because on Wednesday, July 3rd, 1985, BACK TO THE FUTURE opened in theaters. I'll go in-depth on Back to the Future on Friday.

Can't agree on politics or Power Rangers. What an odd couple we are.

I haven't watched it in adulthood. I should change that. Is it on Netflix? I just remember being indifferent when I saw it in `95. Braveheart... now that was awesome.
