RIP to the man who made the first film to give me a nightmare.
I was 4 or 5 and watched NOES for the first time, thanks to my parents being gone and having a cool older brother. I went to sleep and of course Freddy invaded my dreams. Woke up sweaty and freaked out. To make it even more scarring though, my pregnant cat was in the process of having kittens in my closet. When I see the cat she was in the process of eating one of the kittens. So I wake up from a nightmare to see my cat with the ass half end of a kitten coming out of her mouth, all bloody and afterbirthy.
Couldn't sleep for a week.
Found out later that cats will do that if the kitten is stillborn or has other issues. Still didn't help me sleep though.

 Talk about bad timing. Freddy always scared the crap out of me when I was little. Him and Chucky, my aunt bought my dad a doll that looked just like him. So my dad gets this bright idea to put him on a stand at the end of the hallway (right next to my bedroom door) well needless to say I never left my room at night and always had my eyes at the bottom of the door to see if I could catch any shadows walking by. A lot of sleepless nights.
