He's said a few times that he's still trying to get his Hannibal Barca film(s) off the ground. It's possible that he's doing these to get leverage and financing, showing that he's still a bankable star worth investing in.

I enjoyed XXX. 2 was awful because Ice Cube is not an action star. 3 will be worth watching.

The trailer looks exactly like a movie that would have been a run of the mill popcorn movie in 2002. It's being released in 2017 and still doing the same stupid, physics defying gimmicks that were lame back then. Also, anyone who was a fan of the xXx movies when they came out are probably in their mid-thirties now. Who the hell do they expect to sell this to?
