Cereal is probably the best foodstuff ever.
I still eat it at least once a day, every day.
Whether it's morning, noon or night, it's always a good time to eat cereal.
But the question that has been confounding scholars the world-round for millennia is thus:
WHICH IS THE BEST OF THE CEREALS?
Of course, there is no right answer. Only what you yourself feel within your heart of hearts.
Here is a selection of what I deem the Lords of the Cereal Kingdom:
Kellogg's Start - my first love and still top of the list when it's time for a cereal shop. Look at the little guys, sitting in the bowl in awe at the beauty of the milky world that surrounds them. BOX DURATION: 24 hours.
Kellogg's Frosted Wheats - little parcels of wheat topped in glorious icing. You simply can't go wrong. TOP TIP: leave them to go soggy in the milk for a while to maximise tastiness. WARNING: if you leave them too long the icing will rinse off. Then what a fool you'll think you've been. BOX DURATION: 36 hours.
Kellogg's Coco Pops - Altogether now: "I'd rather have a bowl of Coco Pops!" This is where cereal and chocolate meet in the perfect union. Coco Pops must be eaten as quickly as possible - leaving them in the milk for even a minute too long leads to the chocolate coating slipping off and a soggy Rice Krispie in its place. Yuck. BOX DURATION: 48 hours.
Nestle Coco Shreddies - Original Shreddies are also one of my favourites but some bright spark reinvented the wheel when they decided to cake them in chocolate. Bonus points for being much more resilient to an extended bathe in milk than Coco Pops. Also, props to Nestle for having a fighter in contention with all of Kellogg's' big boys. BOX DURATION: 48 HOURS.
Kellogg's Special K - Sadly, my list ends on a depressing note. Special K used to be joint top on my cereal list alongside Start, until, that is, they updated the recipe a few years back. It hasn't tasted the same since. Way too sugary now. RIP Special K. We had a good run. BOX DURATION: N/A. FUCK YOU, KELLOGG'S.
And so ends my journey into the leading cereal brands. Mmmmm, cereal.
