If you put the events of Pulp Fiction in chronological order, the movie would be awful. Not only would the film peak halfway through, but it would end with Bruce Willis and his gal pal riding off into the sunset. It kind of makes you realize that the screenplay wasn't really that good. Tarantino had ONE great idea: the misadventures of Jules and Vincent. But the story wasn't long enough, so he padded it with a bunch of random shit, and when that didn't work, he re-arranged the order of events until everything did work. Pulp Fiction is essentially a pile of shit disguised to look like a pile of gold. I think that's the symbolism behind the glowing briefcase. It's not jewels. It's not a soul. It's shit covered in gold. Opening the briefcase gives you an insight into reality.
