One of two movies that were supposed to come out at the same time based on two different books on Rickard Kuklinski the notorious mob hit man. The other movie never got made, although it is the better of the two books. This one has a good solid cast which includes Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, Chris Evans. Ray Liotta, James Franco, and David Schwimmer. Shannon does a great job of recreating Kuklinski's presence on film - his ending speech is taken straight from the Iceman Tapes done in prison interviews and is a scary spot on rendition of his exact words (you can see the originals online on Amazon, and parts probably on youtube if you want to compare and get a feel for what this scary guy was like.) Ryder is surprisingly good as his wife - her accent here sounding much more authentic than the British one she used in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Ray Liotta is cold as Roy DeMayo - and any move where we get to see James Franco and David Schwimmer get bumped off is always a plus lol They could have done a lot more with the movie to make it a bit more accurate, but the tone is just about right, and any more probably would have changed the rating of the movie entirely - this guy was brutal. As it is, the pacing is a bit slow at first, but hang in there it gets pretty good and finishes well. 7/10 solid but not perfect.

I've had this in my Netflix queue for a while now, been meaning to get around to it. And Ray Liotta is always cold , seems like every movie I have ever seen him in he is either a bad guy or turns out to be the bad guy.

It's alright, nothing great. Michael Shannon is the perfect guy to play a psychopath however there was no real arc to the story, it just goes from point A to point B.

Finally got around to checking this out last night. Overall pretty good movie but like Doomsday said no real arc, seems like the movie was over before anything really happened.
Michael Shannon played this part great, loved him in it. One thing that I really disliked about this film was David Schwimmer, to me the man just can't act. Everytime he came on screen it was like he was acting like Ross.
