So I have a PS3 which works great with everything; streaming, physical media, etc. My lady friend has an older Samsung blu-ray player which plays DVDs and some blu-rays fine BUT some new blu-rays won't play sound. Picture is there, just no sound. I don't think the blu-ray connects to the internet so I can't update anything. Anyone have any ideas why it does this or what I can do to fix it?

Did you check that everything was connected properly? Or if you clicked on the right settings? In the DVD era I had a similar issue where DTS didn't work on my TV but THX did.
