To say a comparison to Battlefield Earth is OTT would be a major understatement.
Warcraft is a perfectly fine and enjoyable, albeit generic (which should come as a surprise to no-one given its origins), fantasy movie with excellent CGI, good action set pieces and solid performances, for the most part.
There's no way anybody with the slightest idea of what WoW is could come away from seeing it unsatisfied, considering that it brings its world to life in a perfectly predictable manner.

I thought Jones would make a decent film considering his last couple films. If it's garbage, then I have no idea what he was thinking. Stick with sci-fi.

problem is this movie came out 10 years too late. There were millions of Warcraft players back then, it would have made perfect sense to make something like this then. But then again, it would probably have been shit back then too

I can see where crtics would hate on this movie because well some can be harsh and not like fun movies. Im not saying this is good or bad. Im just saying I think this can be a movie people will hate but with no Harry Potter or Rings we are do for the next magic inspired franchise and this will likely be it. People will like this but critics will hate it.

Critics are people. Typically movie-lovers, just as we all are here, who just happen to now get paid doing what they love: watching movies. Hell, some of certified RT critics aren't even getting paid, they just do reviews all the time. But even if I suddenly started to making a living tomorrow for doing movie reviews, it wouldn't suddenly make me a "critic" vs "people". I wouldn't be entered into some secret society that gets together and agrees to love or hate something.
Take off your tinfoil hat, RedVader. Perhaps a bit overly harsh, but it was one person's opinion, and no more dramatic than your belief that critics are being paid to hate certain movies.
Anyway, I think we're still planning on seeing it Thursday night, but this is definitely disappointing.

Two different aspects, one is a huge WoW fan and the other knows nothing of the source material.
