I love comic books. I love movies. I love comic book movies. Not every comic book belongs on the silver screen. Some of them are just unsuitable to the medium. A film requires mass appeal to be successful, and some books only work with their niche audience. If Sandman ever makes it out of development Hell and into movie theaters, it is going to bomb in spectacular fashion.

I still think this would work as a series on HBO instead of a movie. The series is so well written and there is just so much that would need to be covered. I remember reading a script way back when and it was decent. It covered majority of the first volume of tradebacks pretty well.
