San Andreas Movie Review
This was a pretty good summer movie oddly enough still released in the spring. I think this was better then Roland E films on disaster movies. The Rock just had a a cammanding hero presence and the concept of losing both people you love to water was a heartbreaking new spin. The family cast was good. The daughter character played by the Percy Jackson actress was nailed perfectly. Yes i know many will say because she was hot and youd be fools not to notice in my view this girl just as it and could be a big actress and roles that Stewart and Lawrence get just might go her way.
Its hard for me to see Ioan as a villain after his good show forever that got canceled but Ioan being a slimy coward had to be his role when the rock is the hero.
Overall loved the movie and it was not as eye roll bad as 2012 or CGI bad like DayAfter Tomarrows bad cgi wolves. Effects were great and it had a likable cast.

Just your typical disaster movie. The Rock and Daddario were the only bright spots, if you could get over some of the cheesy lines they had The Rock to deliver. But I do agree it was better than 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow.

THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW was a waste of time - I don't recall seeing 2012 but I doubt I'd go see this either

There are just some lines they have the Rock saying in the previews that sound forced to me - and geologists are finding the special effects hilarious.
For example - if the fault became that wide - there would be no friction (and no earthquake)
And the Tsunami has to be a couple miles high lol - that's too big to ever happen.

What would happen if LA OR San Francisco had an earthquake would not one city or the other have a wave effect from the other city. Also no body knows whats possible for certain. Scientists make me laugh for if God wants to level a city by a fault crack it will happen.

Not to mention stupid little things happening through out the movie. Perfect example after the earthquake they have no cell phone service but his daughter has just enough time to call her dad and let him know she's all right and needs help. Right.....small as it may be things like that drive me crazy.
And was it just me but did the scene with the car crashing at the beginning seem like really bad cgi?

The opening scene was the classic no texting while your driving and yet the chopper calls her phone. The irony did make me laugh there. But I do believe she was using a fire department type walk talky phone i do believe. Or a landline phone. But really in a earthquake like we saw what telephone pole would be still functioning.

No I mean the girl that was stuck in the backseat of the car after the quake. And another thing that was really awfull about the opening scene. I know that girl had to be stuck in the car for a while before The Rock showed up, it's funny how all of a sudden when the helicopter shows up the car starts slipping and is fixin to fall. |
