Supernatural... what is SVU? A spin off? Special Victims Unit. It's the Law & Order with Ice-T.

This has been on my radar for a long time. Will it be worth the considerable time commitment to binge this ish? Why is it so enduring? I'd say it's worth it, especially if you're into this kind of stuff. It has lots of compelling, interesting mythology, but it's driven by a great brother relationship so it always feels emotionally grounded. The first 5 seasons are the best, 6 and 7 were low points, but 8-11 got back on track. 12 so far has been lackluster and disappointing. But why is it so enduring? Because the characters are so likable and the chemistry between both actors is great, plus the overarching stories are interesting, the side characters are a lot of fun and it mixes the serialized stuff with monsters of the week very well. Plus, awesome classic rock soundtrack.

Interesting that some shows peak in season one (creator's singular vision) and never reach those heights again whereas others find their feet after 2 or 3 when the actors have worn in their roles despite a mediocre beginning.

This show has had its ups (S1-5, 8-11) and downs (S6, 7 & 12 so far), but when it's on, it's on. The series' creator, Eric Kripke, ran the ship for the first five seasons and gave it a tone the subsequent showrunners have done a good job of maintaining since he left. Season 11 is up there with the first five as one of my favorite seasons -- and how often can you say that about a show's 11th season?

I can't help but notice that Doctor Who isn't on the list.

Season 12 may have started off lackluster, but they really turned it around after they returned from the Christmas break.

I enjoyed it. A couple of the cousins seem to have fallen through a plot hole, though.

It's the end of an era. I honestly thought it had a couple more seasons left.

Much as I'm a fan of the show, it's seemed time to wrap it up. Rumor is Jensen Ackles wanted out, and here we are.
