No one juxtapoxed music with imagery quite like Stanley Kubirck. Which ironic use of source music was best?

Those are all great. Just based on personal preference I dig the Surfin' Bird sequence.

I can't tell you how much the Beethoven organ haunts my soul in A Clockwork Orange.

He really was a master.
I read an article recently about his vision for his completed AI. Would have been something special. A flop, more than likely, but an extraordinary one.
Spielberg only just managed to cross the $250m barrier with it.

You would have to remove the poll and recreate.

Tough choice, but I went with Singin' in the Rain because as much as I love that film, I can't help but think of Alex and his Droogs when Gene Kelly dances around and sings when I watch it.

I wonder what Gene Kelly thought of the song usage.

I wonder what Gene Kelly thought of the song usage. He hated it. Reportedly Malcolm McDowell tried talking to Kelly at a party and Kelly just walked away from him in disgust. There are conflicting stories as to whether his beef was born out of a general disgust for the scene or whether it had to do with the fact that he allegedly wasn't paid for it. I find the former more plausible because Kelly didn't write the song and probably wasn't owed any money for it.

I suppose it would bother me a little too if my most iconic and beloved film was then overshadowed by another, one that deals heavily in sex and violence no less.

I'm with you, I think he's most disgusted at the fact that his beloved song that defined his career was juxtaposed with a brutal rape sequence, and that possibly more people associate the song with Clockwork than they do Singin' because that sequence is so horrific and iconic.
