I don't know why, but I've always wanted have this discussion. I really enjoy Both movies for what they offer but when it comes to technical aspects, great characters, and a very unique and original story telling. Hands down Inception wins as a better film. That should be hailed as a classic down the road ....
Any thoughts?

Inception is definitely better and more impressive on every level, but I still really enjoyed Interstellar. I'd rather watch Inception again than Interstellar though.

Inception. It may not deal with as many lofty themes as Interstellar, but Inception's meticulous and original science-fiction concept makes it just as ambitious and the execution is much tighter. Plus, and I might be in the minority here, but I find Inception to be the more emotionally resonant film, mainly because of Cillian Murphy. There's also the notion that Inception is a metaphor for filmmaking, which is just fucking cool.

Oooooooooh, close call. I love the hell out of both movies, but for different reasons. As Cooper said, Inception is meticulously-crafted and executed, plus it's really exciting, but Interstellar is very grand and at the same time intimate, and not as much of an action film as Inception, but still incredibly compelling. Both are very ambitious and live up to said ambitions. Also, the ending of Interstellar turns me into a wreck. Both films feature some of Hans Zimmer's best work, too.
That said, I'm giving the edge to Inception. It's one of those rare great movies with a big rewatchability factor. As much as I love Interstellar, I think I'll ultimately end up coming back to Inception more. Any time it's on T.V., no matter where it is in the movie, I leave it on.

Both have interesting concepts. Both have depth and layers to their stories. But I think Inception is fleshed out a little better and has some pretty awesome action sequences and imagery to boot. So I have to go with Inception
Inception is near-perfect as a movie in my eyes, but Interstellar's purpose transcends movie-making, and that's why I place it on a higher pedestal. A separate pedestal, even.
Inception won't change the world, but, if it touches the right person at the right time, Interstellar might.
Interstellar and it isn't even close. Watched it again the other day.
Fun story... Buddy of mine gave me some chocolates for my birthday one time and I thought they were mj so I was like great I'll eat one on a Sunday night and just chill out fall asleep on the couch.
Hour in I ate half and I was cursing my buddy saying man I gotta ask him his levels this shits weak, so I downed the other half before texting him. He never responded.
Turned out it was a fungi chocolate and I was in for the exact opposite of a relaxing night. But thankfully fx was just replaying this movie two times and with commericals it ended up being like 9 hours to watch this twice. So I just paced back and forth through my living room during the commercials and fucking loved every minute of the show.
I was living alone at the time so there was a lot of talking to myself in the bathroom mirror quoting interstellar and random commercials.
I eventually fell asleep. Called off the next day.
Moral of the story - Interstellar all the way. I don't have any inception figures decorating my desk but TARS is always with me at work.

Great story.
But I'll probably go with Inception. Though I do think I like Interstellar's music more, and I think between Interstellar and Dunkirk, they are Nolan's two most beautifully shot films.
