I don't think this was a mess, and I did give it a 6, which is above average.
I was expecting Ultron to be created and to be helpful and "good" at first, with a surprising descent into madness/villainy along the way. He's created, we see some very fast montages of destruction, and suddenly he's out the door and ready to kill. I also feel like Stark just gets shit on left and right.
The movie had good pacing, aside from farmhouse/cave interlude, and the action was pretty good, but if you really think of the characters and their capabilities, especially Ultron, it would have been so much cleverer a movie. Even X-Men: Days of Future Past managed to make a scene of total beauty with Quicksilver, but here he was relegated to convenient tropes. And Vision felt too much like a Deus Ex Machina. Give the Avengers some sort of real struggle, not this "kill all the robots" whack-a-mole nonsense. Blah.

Yea I'm gonna go ahead and suggest not to. It will give me major deja vu.
Hawkeyes story... I mean why? Why was he the one that had a big sub plot? Because he didn't have screen time last time? Was Whedon just over compensating? And why not kill him off and not Quicksilver? Would it have changed that much of the story? And it would have opened up a bigger role for a cheaper actor...
Although I have a feeling that isn't the last we see of Quicksilver.

I gotta agree with Sno about the matrix sequels. They were like made by people whos brain were on acid non stop. Anybody who needed to see the matrix sequels more then once really had nothing better to do. |

Lets be clear Avengers 2 is not a mess that would be The Amazing Spiderman 2 or Elektra. Avengers 2 suffers from studio making a director do things and here we thought Marvel was better about this then Sony did with Sam Saimi and Spiderman 3.

Finally saw this. It had its moments - and some pretty silly "pose for the camera" moments - Some parts where I couldn't wait to fast forward. Not up to the first one, but watchable.
I give it a 7/10 for some flaws
