This is still my favorite show. So what did everyone think? For me, these past two episodes have been particularly good. Each episode is yet another painful reminder of this shows impending conclusion.

The letter to Sally was good, but it should have made me cry.

The letter to Sally was good, but it should have made me cry. Bette has never been very sentimental, if anything it's touching that she's as composed and formal as ever even under these circumstances.

Oh I love how they handled everything, but exactly to your point, this would have been a good time for them to push it a bit.

Awful finale - but I wasn't surprised. Now let's sit back and watch Dracula defend this show and pretend it's better than Breaking Bad.

The finale was more of a denouement than a climax but I mostly liked it outside of the part where Peggy decided she was in love with Beardy McBeardson, that was stupid as hell. The final season as a whole was great though. Comparing it to Breaking Bad is silly, the shows couldn't be more different.

That was quite the let down. Might as well have made Draper a lumberjack. I felt like I was watching the ending of a sitcom. Gee, I'm so glad everyone finally found love at the end. Even Peter was inserted into the episode just to remind us he lived happily ever after. Sterling finds happiness? Bullshit. Draper has a nervous breakdown out of nowhere, sums up 7 seasons in two sentences, and then finds peace in meditation? Cmon.
The only great part was the old lady shoving Don and I suppose using the "I want to buy the world a Coke" song to end it.

The finale was great, I have no idea what you all are talking about. The only part of this last season that didn't work was the stuff between Don and Diana, and thankfully that only last a couple of episodes. Also, I'd take Mad Men over Breaking Bad any day.

So would I, but Breaking Bad is going to be known as the more consistent one in the long run.

I found the finale ... pretty good. I can't exactly pinpoint what I didn't like, but as a show that has had a lot of transition for its characters, the story wasn't really much of an ending as opposed to another transition for its characters. I also thought Don being with the hippies the entire time was just ... a waste.
Peggy's entire story, to me, was a complete parallel to Joan's - Joan had the desire and lust of every man she encountered, and it gave her success but also an edge (in the way of her attitude) in a man's business world. Peggy was homely, the only man in the office who ever liked her was a drunk Pete Campbell, and he acted entirely dismissive or ashamed of her for some time. She manages to work her way up, but it's entirely due to her talent and work, something that she can be proud of and know, as opposed to Joan, who is always going to have her looks and tenacity to credit for her rise up the ranks. And it ends with her at a company everyone seems to be abandoning and that is sexist. But ... she ends up in love with a coworker? Hoorah? I just didn't see it as much of good closure for her character. Oh well....

Hmm, interesting that Joan and Peggy had the ending that people figured the other character would have.
