For anyone interested, here's the trailer that was released last night. From what research I've been able to do, these are just the versions approved by Emperor Lucas. If you want unaltered versions of the Original Trilogy, you'll still have to look to the Despecialized Editions.
What I find particularly disturbing about this release is that there is zero mention of 20th Century Fox as the distributor, just Lucasfilm. All previous information regarding the distribution rights indicated that Fox had them all until 2020. This would seem to indicate that something may have changed.

I checked iTunes. They have Fox listed as the studio, but LucasFilm as the copyright owner.

I guess Fox just decided not to put their logo on that particular trailer. The trailers for the individual movies feature their logo.

"Fox owns distribution rights to the original Star Wars, No. 4 in the series, in perpetuity in all media worldwide. And as for the five subsequent movies, Fox has theatrical, nontheatrical, and home video rights worldwide through May 2020. The rights to Empire and Jedi and the Prequels will revert to Lucasfilm (and thus Disney) in 2020, but Fox will retain the rights to Star Wars forever." Found the above while checking for a release date on the unaltered bluray release. Interesting they get to keep Ep 4 forever but not the other 2 in the trilogy.

Considering there's no Fox logo on the digital versions, I don't think that's entirely true.

Found the above while checking for a release date on the unaltered bluray release. Interesting they get to keep Ep 4 forever but not the other 2 in the trilogy. Owning the distribution rights in perpetuity is very common. Lucasfilm's deal with Fox was highly unusual in many regards. The deal Lucas made with Fox for the original Star Wars was that if Lucasfilm began filming of a sequel within two years of the release of Star Wars, Lucasfilm would retain the rights to the franchise. If Lucasfilm failed to produce a sequel within two years, the franchise rights would go to Fox, who could make sequels with or without Lucas as they saw fit. Lucasfilm also shared the merchandising rights to Star Wars with Fox, even though the film was being paid for by Fox. Lucasfilm financed The Empire Strikes Back through a bank loan, rather than taking money from Fox. Unfortunately for George, the bank had an inflexible manager who tried to call in the loan due to the film falling behind schedule. Lucas had to go to Fox and get them to cosign the loan, for which Fox demanded an increased percentage of ticket sales, just for signing a piece of paper. Lucasfilm was easily able to repay the bank loan with no help from Fox due to the incredible success of ESB. The end result was that Lucasfilm was able to meet the deadline and keep the rights to make all future films in the franchise and choose who would distribute them.

Well, originally Marvel Studios had a distribution deal with Paramount for their films, but that was before the Disney buyout. After the buyout, Universal still had two or three movies left on their contract. Disney bought the contract from Universal so that they could do it themselves. Considering how extremely secretive Lucasfilm is about so much of what they do, I suppose it's possible that Disney may have purchased the distribution rights to Star Wars from Fox without a press release. If that is the case, they won't be able to keep it a secret forever. That would require a massive payoff to Fox, and since Disney is a publicly traded company, that payment would have to be disclosed.

Thanks for the history lesson, but there's no Fox logo on the digital release. Something changed. I think you might be right, because when you go to the Disney Movies Anywhere site, all 6 movies are there, but a New Hope says "This movie is currently unavailable on Disney Movies Anywhere". If Fox still has the movie in perpetuity, I'm not sure A New Hope would've even been there to have that notice. I think there's a chance a deal is being worked out and is close to being finalized. Another thing that points to something being worked out is the fact that Disney owns Marvel, but Universal Studios apparently still controls The Incredible Hulk (only referring to the MCU one here). It's the only MCU movie not available on Disney Movie's Anywhere. There's no reference to it at all on the site. So, if Universal still has the rights to The Incredible Hulk and it doesn't show up in Disney Movies Anywhere, shouldn't the same be happening with A New Hope? Unless, like you said, something changed.

I'm pretty sure Fox doesn't own the sequels and prequels anymore. They just own A New Hope.

I'm pretty sure Fox doesn't own the sequels and prequels anymore. They just own A New Hope. I know. Fox never actually owned the sequels or prequels. Lucasfilm funded them privately (essentially making them big-budget indies). They signed a distribution deal with Fox. Fox had no creative input. When Disney bought LFL, the movie rights to those 5 movies were instantly theirs. What I was pointing out is Disney Movie Anywhere is only for movies that Disney owns. I just found it weird they went through the trouble of making an icon for A New Hope considering the can't currently sell the movie. However, the fact that it's there could mean Fox has (or will) sell the full rights of A New Hope to Disney.

Fox was supposed to have the rights until 2020. Clearly, that has changed since the only movie with their logo attached to it is A New Hope. I'm guessing Disney bought them out or they're sharing a piece of the pie with them.

I just watched the TFA trailer and I noticed the LucasFilm logo is changed again. They made a new CGI logo. I wonder if the version of the current logo they used in these digital editions was always meant to be temporary. I hope so, as I'd like to see a longer logo, with an original fanfare. I personally feel the music is awkwardly edited in the current logo.

I think they wanted the original logo for the previous movies and a new one for the new movies.

...for now... Like I said, I really do hope when they fully unveil the logo with the movie, it uses a bombastic original fanfare composed by John Williams specifically for the logo. I'm not sure I want Star Wars music as part of the logo, as I personally think it would feel weird when it comes time for a new Indiana Jones.

See, I have this slight OCD issue where I hate having my movies in box sets. I want each individual movie in its own packaging. Right now star wars are the only movies I have in a box set...
