I've been enjoying it. With that being said I actually started reading the comic, love that even more. If I read the comic way before I watched it on TV I would probably be upset, they seem to be changing things up a little. Currently I'm on book #46, so not to much longer to go. Changing things up a little? That's a massive understatement. The show has the same title, and some of the characters share the same names. Beyond that, the similarities end. It's as though someone went to some TV producers and gave them a basic premise for a story- A divine being called Genesis escapes Heaven and merges with a preacher named Jesse Custer in Annville, TX. The being grants Jesse the power to command anyone who hears him to instantly obey his Word. He has a criminal past with a woman named Tulip O'Hare and meets a vampire named Cassidy. There are a couple of angels who have been tasked with taking Genesis back to Heaven, a gunslinger from the old west, and a weird little man called Odin Quincannon who owns a meat packing plant. - and told them to take it from there. Don't bother reading the comics, they'll just get in the way. Any similarities that occur seem to be by pure accident.

Just finished all the books this morning. This was a fantastic comic, wish I had read it a lot sooner. Like I said in a previous post, I would be really upset if I was a fan before the TV show, the show holds up pretty good on its own but I'm looking it as something completely unrelated to the comics. Like Wyldstaar said the only thing pretty much the same is the characters names.
The show could have been amazing if they stuck with the source material, but they would have probably suffered in amount of viewers simply because it would have been way out there and confused a lot of people.

I tried out the second episode, but again, found it incredibly boring/tedious for me to appreciate, so I'm respectfully bowing out. And I can love slower stories, but there's just something about this one that doesn't click for me.

Okay, season one is over. I'm not exactly surprised with how it ended, since there were hints to it for the last few episodes. The clues combined with what I know about the fate of Annville from the comics made it a near certainty. The final scene at the dinner is similar to one in the first issue of Preacher. It's as though the producers are trying to tell us comics fans that next season is going to be more in keeping with the comics. On a very basic level, that of the story being told as a road trip, I suspect that's probably true. That doesn't change the fact that those same producers have made it crystal clear that they don't give a pair of fetid dingo's kidneys about staying true to the spirit of what Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon created, and I've no doubt that this will continue in season two.

I agree. Spending the first season introducing characters and giving back stories gives viewers a reason to care about the characters. Jumping right into the hunt for God in addition to all these strange characters probably would have been off-putting to people unfamiliar with the comics. So the story-line suffered a bit in the beginning in order to establish the groundwork for the big road trip. I'm okay with this. Dragging their feet to get to the heart of the story just gives me more time to go back and reread the comics. I enjoyed season one and I'm going to stick around to watch the next season.

While slow I feel that the first season was good and the way it ended was great. I can't wait to see what they do with it.

Heard very good things about the second season trailer. Partly due to an increase in funding, allowing them to branch out more.

Well, at least I recognize everyone from the comics except for one. Is that bloody Hitler in the grocery store stock boy smock? He's the only one who's out of place.
Did anyone watch season two? I can't help but notice that there's not a single post about it.

I did, but only just recently because the entire season became available for streaming. It was a good binge. I think I enjoyed it more than the first season.
I don't know if I'll check out Season 3 straight away or just wait like I did with season 2.
