Thought I would start up a thread here in the music section of the boards, dedicated to awesome instrumental musical solo efforts. These efforts would be times when a recording artist/band went off the chain and displayed an awesome instrumental solo within their song.
As an example I have selected Fix You from Coldplay, specifically listen to the clip 2:27 in and onwards. I love it, it has an uncanny way of unlocking emotions and memories... and plain and simple, just sounds amazing!
Please post other songs with amazing instrumental moments!

Coldplay are one of those bands it's become cool to hate, despite the fact that they have a RIDICULOUS number of classic tracks.
Examples:
The Scientist Yellow Fix You Square One Lost Trouble Clocks Speed of Sound Violet Hill Midnight

A lot of bands wish they could make anything as memorable as those tracks. But for some reason Coldplay get a lot of shit, especially in England, for being 'middle of the road'.
Fuck that.

Let me tell you guys about a band called The Music.
If you name yourself The Music, you've got some balls, right? You have to make tunes worthy of the name.
And they did.
The best tracks they made were hidden instrumentals like this:
Completely uncategorisable.

When I saw GnR in Manchester in 2007 Buckethead was actually the lead guitarist!
I'll never forget them starting with 'Welcome to the Jungle'....epic.
Another classic The Music hidden track, 'The Walls Get Smaller':
