Episode 8 is done filming... I'm guessing we will see her as a CGI Character in Episode 9

Honestly this time using CGI character makes complete sense... While Peter Cushing could have been replaced and it would have been fine.
I feel unless her character dies in episode 8 it might be very important to the overall storyline to keep her CGI.

I wonder if Princess Leia has a big or small role in Episode 8. If it's a small role, it will be easy to write her out of Episode 9. If it's a big role, then yeah, brace yourself for another CGI Leia. Although I doubt CGI Leia would be a big part. It'll just be a scene or two, for continuity sake, and then the character will get written out.

She is Kylo Rens mother. Looks like Leia maybe story Wise should have died by Kylo Ren and Han Lived but there is no way you can predict story things but maybe they can do a reshoot and tie this up. I kinda feel sad and almost bad about talking about a beloved dead actress over a movie role. But Star Wars and Princess Leia is a big deal.

Were they even done filming? No, not over yet. Episode 8 is done filming... I'm guessing we will see her as a CGI Character in Episode 9 No, not over yet. Someone will takeover by replace Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. But don't worry! They will find someone who can play as Princess Leia. I wonder if Princess Leia has a big or small role in Episode 8. They will not dare recast older Leia. My guess is they will figure out something likely in pick ups or reshoots. I think in a way whatever they have to do to improve Carrie s part for Leia may even be as important a last moment on film much like Ledger was win TDK. I am sure people will say how can you talk about such things a person has died and Star Wars are just movies. I however think it honors her memory for movie fans too hope Lucasfilm does something more with Carries last movie. Then what she was given in Force Awakens.

Or they will just write her out. While I'm sure the script for Episode IX will get a major rewrite, I doubt Leia will be written out. They'll probably reduce her role as much as is practical, and CGI the rest. They've got a few more years to continue to work the kinks out. It will still likely look a bit off, but will still be better than Tarkin in Rogue One, and I thought that was better than was possible currently. This is of course assuming that Leia survived the events in the version of Episode VIII that has already been filmed. For all we know, she didn't.

Well, I guess we won't be getting an Empire Strikes Back type of film. Rian Johnson is immensely talented so I have a lot of faith that this will top Force Awakens, but I worry that Disney is really just not going to let any of these Star Wars films be more than just zippy fun, at least that's the impression I got from Johnson's comments. Them trying to play it safe and appease everyone will be their downfall.

We just got a dark chapter a month ago~ True, but even then that film acted like it was going to be a standalone film and then quickly succumbed to fan fare and homages to A New Hope, so we're still waiting for Disney to make a film that actually starts creating its own legacy and not riding the nostalgia of the original trilogy. I still have faith that Episode VIII will be that film (it sort of has to be, we're willing to let Force Awakens be the fun nostalgia ride it was but now it's time for this series to have ITS OWN legacy), but Disney's approach leaves me feeling that the film will be good but won't achieve any greatness due to playing everything safe and not trying anything. But Rian Johnson is a much better filmmaker than J.J., so we shall see what he has in store.

Yeah I agree, I'm done with the whole nostalgia of Star Wars... We get it we all liked the original films. But now it's time to move on and make something new happen.
I don't mind a light chapter in the series as long as it's someone new and fresh.

Agreed, I'm not upset if the tone is light, I just want a film that isn't constantly referencing the original trilogy and works as its own entry.

Meh. The second installment in Star Wars trilogies are supposed to have titles that embrace the series' pulp roots a little more.

I don't hate it, I don't love it. Just another example of this series playing it very safe. I suppose they can't win either way because people will always criticize the title one way or another, but it works enough.

Don't care for the title, as it just puts it in a weird relationship with Episode 6. I also said the same thing after the last movie.
So Luke was the return of the Jedi and now 30 years later he's... the last Jedi? Okie dokie.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or even Kylo Ren, for all we know. Either way, I just don't like the relationship it gives the two titles so close together. Return of the Jedi... and then The Last Jedi. Maybe if it was the third movie, I don't know.
Also all the brouhaha about how Luke is explicitly referred to as "the last Jedi" in The Force Awakens, and Yoda telling him "the last of the Jedi, you will be" in ROTJ. I'm sure that aspect is supposed to seem poetic and clever with this title, but for the moment it just weirds me out seeing those names in their chronological order. Then again, maybe I'm just being OCD, yearning for something more original. This is now the second movie with "Jedi" in the title and it's separated by only one film in the order of the episodic numbers.
