Starts filming in the fall it looks like. www.vancitybuzz.com/2015/03/tron-3-filmed-vancouver-fall/The sequel to 2010’s Tron: Legacy will be filmed in Vancouver beginning this fall. According to Vancity Buzz entertainment contributor Lindsay Barker, Walt Disney Pictures has green lighted the third film in the Tron series. Filming is scheduled to begin on October 5, 2015. The project has been in development since the success of the 2010 film, which raked in $400 million with a $170 million budget. |

Pass, the second film was majorly disappointing. Looked great, everything else was mediocre at best.

I didn't even think it looked that great and there was nothing iconic about it like the first one.
And the soundtrack sucked people, don't excuse those french fucks for being lazy.

Tron Legacy has grown on me. And the soundtrack is a lot of fun, I agree with Fanible.

Compared to the other scores you guys seem to like... Sure it is much better.
But it could have been so much more than the atmospheric... stuff it is.

The fact that the villain is defeated by wind blowing him off the platform in incredibly anticlimactic fashion is an excellent example of the IQ level of the sequel. It sucked.

I'm interested in a sequel. Yes, Legacy is all kinds of flawed, but the concept and look has a lot of potential. I hope Daft Punk does the score again.

I'd welcome a sequel as well. Sure, the story wasn't the best, but it's executed with real energy and excitement, and yes, the score is pretty great.

It should come as little to no surprise that Tron 3 has been dropped by Disney. Honestly, I don't understand why they were even bothering to try. They bought Lucasfilm and Marvel to gain access to the boys market. Disney didn't need to try yet again at a property that failed to meet expectations twice. That money is far better off being spent on proven winners, or something totally new. link |

I don't understand why they were even bothering to try. Because Disney is seen as a real estate company these days and the new movie division boss, Alan Horn, had a reputation at Warner Bros for launching successful movies and franchises. Sitting back and watching the sub-companies take all the credit isn't good for his ego. He can't even take credit for Frozen since John Lasseter (of Pixar fame) runs the animation department. One way or another Disney is gonna have franchises outside of the ones they've acquired. Marvel and Lucasfilm are always gonna be seen as Marvel and Lucasfilm. The same way that Pixar is always seen as separate from Disney. Tomorrowland flopping is probably what killed Tron 3. They'll probably go for something save like a 3rd Alice in Wonderland and a 6th Pirates of the Caribbean. |

Instagram has been pumping me full of the new tron Disney ride (haven't been to Disney in over 30 years mind you) with targeted ads. Said to the wife the other day that I was sure this meant something new from Tron was inevitable.
I'm sure I'll watch it but I remain skeptical, dead men tell no tales was boring in story and how it was shot, both trons are at least fun to look at. Don't take that away from the franchise.
