I'll be seeing this opening weekend. Who didn't grow up with these movies, doesn't want to actually watch them? Nostalgia factor is what they're relying on. Sometimes that works ( Transformers) and sometimes it doesn't ( Land of the Lost). |

Go back and watch old MMPR episodes - the show is total crap. Anyone expecting anything more than total crap from this is entirely misguided. I will probably enjoy the shit out of it.

In Japan, Power Rangers predates Voltron. And Japanese Spider-Man predates Power Rangers - it was the first to feature giant robots fighting giant monsters. If I remember correctly the Japanese Spider-man influenced both. The way the fighting was done in the Spider-man can be directly seen in Power Rangers. Giant robot fighting monsters goes back to the 60's with Johnny Sokko and his flying robot.
