Yeah, it sucks, but some of these stars are famous because they had a certain look that fit what the directors/producers wanted. If she loses that look, she loses her agency. Like it or not, she's comparable to a model, who will also get 86'ed if they put on weight. Them's the ropes. Enjoy your millions and lay off the cheeseburgers, J-Law. |

I saw on imdb that today is Jennifer Lawrence's birthday (30, gross). It made me wonder what she's been up to lately and looking at her profile she has a couple things in production but from the looks of it the last big thing that she made was the last Hunger Games which is already 5 years old. Since then she's made stuff like Joy, Red Sparrow, Passengers, mother!, a couple of crappy X-Men movies, basically a bunch of stuff that's been a critical or commercial failure if not both. I was never much of a JL fan but it makes me wonder if people have been getting tired of her or if she just needs a new agent.

Mostly just example 99 that star power is kind of meaningless these days. I wouldn't say that's a terrible track record though: Joy got her an Oscar nomination, those X-Men movies probably got her good paychecks, Passengers made more money than you'd think, mother was plainly a labor of love. Red Sparrow is the only real turkey in the bunch. I'm sure if she opted to be an MCU movie or something she'd be back on top. |

Red Sparrow made $151.6 million on a $69 million budget. That's not a huge success, but it's respectable enough to make the studio happy. I thought it was good, and not just because she got naked.
