Vin Diesel has confirmed his long-awaited dream project, Hannibal the Conqueror, is back in development and he credits friend and co-star Paul Walker for getting the film on track.
Action star Vin Diesel has been working on a film about ancient military commander Hannibal for over ten years but, for various reasons, the project has never made it onto the big screen.
Earlier today Vin Diesel, who joined picture sharing site Instagram over the weekend, posted a photograph of himself alongside his former Fast & Furious co-star - whom he nicknamed 'Pablo' - suggesting the film is back on track.
“He would always say... You need to do Hannibal. ‘It will be your life's work.,’” Vin captioned the snap. “On my way to work this morning... Can't help but to reflect... Pablo this movie is being completed in your honor... Miss you... Pero tu sabe, tu sabe...”
Yesterday the Riddick star also took to Facebook to explain the Hannibal project, writing: “After committing to this story for well over a decade… by the way, as a side note, one of the reasons I didn’t do the sequel to XXX ten years ago, was because, I was promised by the studio at the time that my next film would be the David Franzoni scripted, Hannibal the Conqueror. Looking back now, I realize I wasn’t ready for this monumental task. But I digress…”
“We must go further back in time, to grasp the magnitude and relevance of this underserved historic character. The first film in this trilogy will do just that, by introducing us to an even more obscured yet extremely pivotal character, Hannibal’s Father.”
According to IMDB, Hannibal the Conqueror is currently in pre-production.
